Job description

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory is seeking a Senior Talent Acquisition Partner to join the Human Resources team. In this role, you will provide full life-cycle recruitment support to several customer groups in the business operations, as well as other customer groups across Berkeley Lab with high-volume recruitment needs.

This position works in close collaboration with their assigned divisions to attract and hire talented individuals, as well as apply a fair and open recruitment process that is aligned with Berkeley Lab's policies, federal regulations and formal documented processes. You will be accountable for: filling positions at all levels; partnering with hiring managers, serving as a subject matter expert and driver on full life-cycle recruitment and Applicant Tracking System (ATS); and showcasing Berkeley Lab as an employer of choice. This position works collaboratively with recruitment team members, other HR staff, candidates, hiring managers and other recruiting collaborators to ensure positions are filled in a timely manner.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Partner closely with internal clients and HR business partners to review and prioritize recruitment needs. Assist hiring managers in developing a recruitment plan to fill open positions in accordance with Berkeley Lab's recruitment process. Assist hiring managers with maintaining progress on open positions.

  • Suggest options to market open positions through advertisements. Write job ads to attract qualified and high-caliber talent that is diverse.

  • Create and provide interview questions that are aligned with the essential qualifications and duties/responsibilities required of the open position. 

  • Prepare hiring managers, interview teams, and search committees with recruitment processes and protocols.  

  • Screen and identify qualified candidates. Assist the hiring manager with developing selection criteria to fairly assess interviewed candidates, select the appropriate finalist and coordinate offers.

  • Provide supplemental sourcing, candidate screenings and assessing support for other recruiters.

  • Provide clients and HR colleagues with regular updates on active recruitment efforts. 

  • Provide an excellent candidate experience by providing information on Berkeley Lab culture and benefits, status updates, and timely follow-ups.

  • Ensure candidates are dispositioned appropriately in the ATS. Ensure ATS data quality and communications are maintained for auditing and reporting purposes.

  • Participate in diversity and outreach events and activities as requested.

 

What is Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Social Science or related field; or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.  

  • Minimum of 8 years of recruitment experience, including prior experience conducting in-house recruitment.

  • Experience with full-lifecycle recruitment for scientific positions. Ability to manage recruitment process and procedures in accordance with policy, State, and Federal regulations.

  • Demonstrated experience partnering with hiring managers on recruitment activities from requisition creation, needs assessment, sourcing, screening, selection, offer negotiations, to onboarding.  

  • Demonstrated experience with high-volume recruitment and working independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive marketing material from a job description.

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in ATS, HR Management Systems, Word, Excel and email. Familiarity with Google applications and document sharing. Ability to work effectively with and provide support to end-user customers on both Mac and PC platforms.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of OFCCP requirements. 

  • Experience working in a union environment.

  • Recruiting certification (e.g., AIRS, RACR, etc.).

 

Notes:

  • This is a full time 1-year, term appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to Career appointment based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds and ongoing operational needs. 

  • This position is monthly paid and exempt from overtime pay.

  • This position is budgeted to pay $115,500 - $150,000 annually. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualifications and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, certifications, and aligned with the internal peer group.  

  • It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position.

  • This position may be subject to a background check. Any convictions will be evaluated to determine if they directly relate to the responsibilities and requirements of the position. Having a conviction history will not automatically disqualify an applicant from being considered for employment.

  • Work may be performed on-site, hybrid, full-time telework or remotely. Work schedules are dependent on business needs. Work must be performed within the United States.

  • This position is not eligible for relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.
