Senior Systems Engineer

Schurz Communications is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to be responsible for operational support & maintenance for servers, storage & the Azure environment. You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be detail oriented, possess the ability to analyze and problem solve as well as prioritize tasks to complete requests and meet deadlines. The ability to work effectively as a team contributor, as a team leader, and independently/self-directed is a must. This position is remote, work from home. This position is remote, work from home.  The salary range for this position is between $80,000-$125,000 annually depending on experience with potential for an annual bonus.  

Responsibilities Include:

• Leads the day-to-day operational support & maintenance for servers, storage & the Azure environment.
• Builds, patches, tests (check for compatibility issues, conducts QA) and deploys complex systems and platforms meeting Schurz Communications company needs and specifications.
• Leads in planning and implementing changes to infrastructure with the goal of enhancing performance and maintaining cyber security best practices.
• Performs complex storage and server data backup, data migration and disaster recovery operations.
• Performs complex software and operating system upgrades and tracks system licensing.
• Configures security settings or access permissions for groups, service accounts and individuals.
• Provides technical support (help desk) to users by troubleshooting problems related to systems or platform performance.
• Documents complex procedures and troubleshooting procedures related to systems/networks, software and hardware.
• Leads the configuration and maintenance of office and/or production software, adjunct support and/or utility software, i.e., Virus malware protection, office application suites and/or application software.
• Works with Business applications, vendors, consultants, contractors, and IT personnel from other Companies, Divisions, and Departments.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Director of IT Infrastructure.

You will need to have:

• BS in Computer Science or 4 Years comparable experience
• Must have an active MCSA, or MCSE, or MCITP, Security +
• VCP a plus.
• ITIL 4 or above a plus
• Must have Systems Engineering & systems administration experience with Microsoft Azure & M365
• Must have a minimum of 10 years practical experience with network, systems, and storage management implementation, troubleshooting, change management, and root cause analysis.
• A minimum of 10 years’ hands on experience with:
  • Microsoft servers and applications including Active Directory
  • Azure Active Directory
  • Windows Server
  • DHCP, DNS & IIS
  • NAS/SAN solutions, Equallogic, EMC
  • Linux/VMWare platform hardware and software
  • VMWare Esxi & V-Sphere 7.x &  x environments with high availability
  • M365 Management center including MS Teams
  • Microsoft Security Center
• Excellent written, documentation and verbal communication skills.
• Creative problem-solving abilities.
• Use of good independent judgement, high integrity and ethics.
• Able to formulate recommendations consistent with directives, policies, standards, and regulations.
• Ability to handle multiple, complex, long term projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
• High degree of initiative, dependability, and the ability to work with little supervision.
• Excellent communicator with a friendly and professional approach.
• Ability to be part of an afterhours on-call rotation.
• Proficient using PowerShell to automate tasks and reduce configuration errors.
• Citrix Workspace knowledge and or experience
