JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer
Reports to: Cyber Security and IT Infrastructure Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Subordinate Reports: 0
Department: IT Department
Location: Ft Washington
Position Summary
Design, install, configure, test, and troubleshoot on-prem and cloud virtual servers. Ensure systems and supporting infrastructure are highly available, recoverable, and scalable. Maintain existing systems infrastructure and recommend enhancements to IT management. Provide escalation support for IT support staff.
Essential Functions
  • Work with business units to define business requirements, systems goals, and to identify and resolve business issues.
  • Research, design, implement, monitor, and maintain business critical technologies and guide Network, Information Security, and Applications staff in proper implementation.
  • Guide employees in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analysis for proposed systems to aid management in making design and implementation decisions.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, partners, contractors, and business units to ensure reliable and secure system related products and services.
  • Identify and integrate enterprise products into business processes.
  • Design, implement, monitor, and maintain backup and recovery strategy in accordance with retention guidelines.
  • Take ownership of technical systems related processes, acting as the final point of escalation.
  • Develop and implement new policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the infrastructure, and correct errors or problems when identified; interpret and communicate work procedures and bank policies to staff members.
  • Communicate with people outside the organization on a regular basis including regulators, auditors, customers, attorneys, law enforcement, and the general public.
  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops and training, obtaining relevant professional certifications, reviewing professional publications and books, establishing personal networks, participating in professional associations, and staying informed of any legal, policy and procedural changes relating to systems and cloud technologies.
  • Keep informed of industry changes, trends, and best practices, and assess the potential impact on processes and procedures.
Job Requirements
  • Strict attention to details and thoroughness in the completion of job duties.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Ten years of experience in Systems Engineering and Administration.
  • MSP or equivalent experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to oversee the design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems and directory technologies such as Active Directory, Domain administration, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, NTFS based access control, clustering, and federation.
  • Strong knowledge of datacenter virtualization technologies included virtualization with VMware vSphere/ESXi/VDI and Hyper-V, Citrix, containers Docker, Kubernetes, load balancers including F5 and Barracuda, Hyperconverged Infrastructure including VXRail and Nutanix.
  • Strong knowledge of storage technologies including SAN, VSAN, DAS, NAS, cloud/hybrid over iSCSI, Fiber Channel, NFS, CIFS, and WebDAV.
  • Strong knowledge of Cloud and SaaS technologies such as AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365, Hybrid Infrastructure for Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and Groups.
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery best practices and technologies such as Veeam, AppAssure, Site Recovery Manager, Azure Backup and Recovery, and Barracuda.
  • Strong knowledge of business administration and management theories, principles, and practices.
  • Expert knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices relating to strategic planning, workflow analysis and design, policy and procedure development, and risk management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • High reasoning skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to understand new information and apply it to current and future job functions, problem solving, and decision making.
  • Ability to collaborate and relate well to all kinds of people, build appropriate rapport and constructive, effective relationships, and use tact and diplomacy to handle situations comfortably.
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to present information using a variety of instructional techniques and teach others.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret legal documents, governmental regulations, and professional publications.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from senior management, attorneys, vendors, government agents, and the general public.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly in order to effectively convey information so that others understand and as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time up to 70% of work hours.
  • Ability to use hands to grasp, handle or feel.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard and system to enter data and process information.
  • Ability to read a computer screen at a close distance.
  • Ability to read, talk clearly so that others understand, hear, comprehend the written and spoken word, and see.
  • Ability to use telephone to communicate with others.
  • Ability to use office equipment such as teller scanner, personal computer, telephone, mobile device, copier, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at least 10% of work hours.
Working Conditions
  • Moderate sound as in business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic.
  • Open floor work environment.
