Academic Surgical Pathologist - Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences

Non-Tenure Track

The Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences at the University of Missouri School of Medicine is seeking an experienced senior academically oriented pathologist and Surgical Pathologist, with academic rank based on academic record. 

Job Details: 

  • Services in general surgical pathology.
  • Helping in the mentoring and supervision of other Surgical Pathologists.
  • Teaching medical students and residents.
  • It is expected that the successful candidate will progress to being the Director of Surgical Pathology within a year of appointment (if not sooner, depending on hire date).

Our collegial environment provides substantial opportunities for intellectual creativity and research.  Applicants should be committed to excellent patient care, as well as teaching and scholarship. 

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO
  • Have certification (or eligibility for certification) by the American Board of Pathology in AP/CP or AP.
  • Eligibility for unrestricted licensure for the practice of medicine in Missouri.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

  • A subspecialty fellowship and expertise are welcome.

Columbia Missouri, the fastest growing city in Missouri with a current population of over one hundred and twenty thousand, is a mostly wooded area located where the Ozark Mountains begin to transform to plains.   It is a college town, home to the University of Missouri (Mizzou), Columbia College, and Stephens College.  Other nearby colleges include Westminster College, Central Methodist University and several community colleges.  The public schools in Columbia are very good.  With the University of Missouri HealthCare there is comprehensive tertiary and quaternary specialty medical care.  The successful candidate will also be an attending physician at University Hospital.  There are numerous opportunities for attending sporting events and concerts in Columbia in addition to events in St Louis and Kansas City.    The cost of living is low and Columbia is ranked highly among places to live.
