Job Overview

* Conduct on-site support and reviews regarding quality compliance as well as any technical support required. Re-assurance that manufacture scheduling and component delivery dates are being followed to meet Komatsu Mining Corporation expectations.

* Prepare and distribute Quality Plans for manufacturing projects as needed.

* Implement and support any welding certifications as required.

*Support onsite reviews and Quality Assurance requirements to outsourced manufacturers.

* Provide written reports (and distribution) regarding project(s) performance. Audit manufacturers. Advise subcontracting as to manufacturers on-site capabilities, i.e., fabrication, machining, assembly, handling, QA etc.

* Plan and direct activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processes, materials and products related to subcontract and purchased materials and services.

* Audit to qualify and assess new vendors. Audit to monitor and provide feedback to existing vendors.

* Plan and direct activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processes, materials and products related to subcontract and purchased materials and services.

* Management of large component projects that have been outsourced.

* Develop Supplier Quality planning information and communicate the requirements to suppliers.

 

 

Key Job Responsibilities

* On-site technical support and auditing of complete manufacturing of outsourced "large weldment" components.

* Regulate and maintain Komatsu Mining Corporation quality standards (subcontracting vendors/manufacturers). Keep all vendor/manufacturing supplier files up to date.

* Prepare and distribute Quality Plans for manufacturing projects as needed.

* Audit (non-committed) manufacturing sites (suppliers). Advise subcontracting as to said manufacturers on-site capabilities, i.e., Primary, Fabrication, welding & assembly. Secondary; Machining.

* Review individual Supplier Quality issues and on-site follow-up when required.

* Disposition supplier Deviation Requests.

* Issue and work with subcontractors to resolve rejectable product deliverables utilizing the supplier corrective system.

* Prepare and implement weld / repair procedures. Incorporate these procedures into the SharePoint Welding Library.

* Support the Supplier Quality department through audits of the quality systems at suppliers.

* Facilitate and coordinate the tracking and resolution of commissioning issues and reliability review items for subcontract department.

* Audit outsourced manufacturers (new and existing) for reliability, quality, tooling, calibration, manufacturing process compliance and capabilities as it relates to welding, fabrication and assembly as needed.

* Issue and work with subcontractors to resolve rejectable product deliverables utilizing the supplier corrective system.

* Work with engineering and the vendor's personnel to clarify quality or technical requirements.

* Work with Supply Chain in issuing robust First Article Requirements and Technical Reviews.

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in engineering; Welding and Fabrication or a minimum of 7+ years equivalent training and technical experience.

* Certified Weld Inspector (CWI).

* Experience reading and interrupting blueprints as it relates to welding/fabrication.

* Review supplier submitted PQR's & WPS's for conformance.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Experience in the metalworking industries; Welding and Fabrication/assembly process.

*Understanding of quality systems and use of SAP.

* Familiar with Mining products.
