Description:

Reporting to the Assistant Clinical Director of Student Counseling Services, the Senior Staff Psychologist is a licensed, doctoral level psychologist with at least five years of post-licensure supervision experience. This individual will be primarily responsible for the clinical assessment, counseling, and referral of students at Hofstra University. The Senior Staff Psychologist collaborates with faculty, staff, students, families, and other providers in order to facilitate counseling, referrals and to promote the well-being of students, as well as to promote Student Counseling Services’ resources in the greater campus community. This role is associated with significant training responsibility, as the Senior Staff Psychologist will provide clinical supervision and didactic programming for doctoral trainees in Student Counseling Services APPIC Internship and NYNJADOT Externship programs.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducts comprehensive intake assessments to determine suitable care, treatment protocols, and referrals.
  • Provides individual and group counseling, triage interventions, and goal planning to promote personal, social, educational, or vocational development and adjustment.
  • Assists with outreach programming and program implementation for the Hofstra community.
  • Provides clinical supervision and didactic training seminars for NYNJADOT externs and APPIC
  • internship candidates.
  • Consults with faculty, staff, students, and families regarding student mental health, overall well-being, and academic success.
  • Collaborates and provides consultation to campus colleagues, medical staff, and other mental health
  • service providers.
  • Maintains electronic health records for patients in compliance with HIPAA, APA, and University policies and regulations.
  • Contributes to developing goal-driven projects to address Hofstra community needs and departmental reports.
  • Serves as requested on special projects for Student Counseling Services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree required.
  • Minimum five years of post-licensure clinical supervision experience.
  • NY State Psychology license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing mental health programming to both student and faculty/staff/parent groups preferred.
