What will you do
The Senior Software Engineer will join the Future of Self Care R&D team responsible for the identification, development, and commercialization of transformational innovation opportunities. This role will be responsible for software and firmware engineering for a recent medical device innovation, with responsibilities in product development and continuous improvement for consumer medical device project(s).
Responsibilities
- The Senior Software Engineer will advise and coordinate activities of one or more engineering programs in support of product Lifecycle activities and facilitate the technical transfer of medical devices and related software/firmware of products from development into production.
- Function as technical SME for the life-cycle management, design and development of electro-mechanical products for the consumer health market.
- Be responsible for the development and life-cycle engineering of medical device products. Leads other engineers and contractors, contributing to their development by providing guidance and coaching on technical matters.
- This role will have the unique opportunity to interact with business and technology leaders to understand strategic business imperatives and provide engineering talent support for solutioning in novel technologies.
- Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, contractors, and suppliers, with responsibility for acting independently on technical or business matters pertaining to their field.
- Be a strong teammate with a proven ability to use critical thinking skills, and collaborate with quality, medical safety, IT software development partners, and regulations to ensure all devices meet applicable standards
- Design and develop a product(s) in compliance with the company's Design Control requirements and consistent with applicable regulatory requirements
- Engage with consumer research, industrial design, and user experience colleagues to iteratively design features and experiences that delight consumers while driving positive health outcomes.
- Support a curious and supportive innovation culture that encourages thoughtful risk-taking and willingness to new insights
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Computer Science or Engineering with software development experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience including 2 years of medical device experience Software Engineering or embedded code development is required, preferably in a regulated environment.
- Experience in the medical device or highly regulated industry is required (i.e., EMEA and US required (21 CFR820 and ISO 13485).
- Experience writing and performing tests for software and software modules. Participate in code reviews
- Identify and set priorities for new product development projects and existing products.
- Provide architectural, technical, security and risk assessment guidance and ensure that sound and creative engineering practices are followed.
- Organized, assertive, and independent.
- Adapt to new technologies and methodologies to focus on areas of demand
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- 5% travel is required
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with embedded microcontrollers and in firmware development
- Experience with Software Architecture Design, hardware logic design, memory allocation, and BLE communication preferred
- Experience with medical device software documentation requirements (IEC-62304)
- Experience with wireless technology and connected device
- C, C , C#, embedded code, and Python, Java, and/or Swift programming experience is a plus.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $102,000 to $163,300.
