Senior Software Engineer - Db2 Z/Os Database Administration

Job Title:Senior Software Engineer - DB2 z/OS Database Administration
Place of Performance: Sacramento, CA
Period of Performance: 1-year base period plus 1 year option period
Job Duties:

• The candidate shall perform day-to-day DB2 Administration operations to include configuring and maintaining DB2 z/OS environments.
• The candidate shall perform and document daily health checks including but not limited to viewing and monitoring thread activities, monitoring Tablespace usage and allocations to avoid out-of-space Tablespace failures, and reorganizing tablespaces as necessary to improve performance and ensure the overall health of Client environments and databases.
• The candidates shall identify and maintain lists of all production databases and production required Imagecopy jobs.
• The candidate shall review, maintain, and update imagecopy retention periods and BMC Logmaster use.
• The candidate shall review, maintain, and update documents related to IDAA installation and monitoring.
• The candidate shall update DB2 job alerts and email notification settings in ESP and elsewhere.
• The candidate shall work with external and internal developer customers on their DB2 related projects to include change, issues, fixes, errors, requirements, access, and any other DB2 related activities.
• The candidate shall update DB2 test plans as needed.
• The candidate shall plan and upgrade DB2 to Function Level 510.
• The candidate shall plan and upgrade DB2 to meet the latest version used by the California Department of Technology.
• The candidate shall create, recommend, document, and adhere to guidelines and processes for the administration and monitoring of DB2 on z/OS.

Mandatory Qualification:

• Five (5) of experience with DB2 on z/OS technology performing DB2 Database Administration and DB2 systems programming.
• Five (5) of experience with DB2 administration using IBM's DB2 Administration Tools (e.g., High Performance Unload, Query Monitor, Cloning Tool, Automation Tool, and Recovery Expert), JCL, z/OS & DB2 utilities, ESP and DB2 resource monitoring in a DB2 z/OS environment.
• Five (5) years of experience with DB2 DDF workloads, supporting DB2 connect configuration, installation, and problem determination.
• Five (5) years of experience with applications using both DB2 z/OS static and dynamic SQL, and programming of COBOL DB2 programs.
• Five (5) years of experience with DB2 z/OS database backup/recovery, performance tuning, configuration, and design.

Desirable Qualification:

• Experience with the usage of DB2 IBM DB2 Analytics Accelerator (IDAA).
• Experience with Erwin Data Modeler.
• Experience with QMF for z/OS and QMF for Workstation
• Experience with DB2 Monitors Omegamon Performance Expert for DB2, IBM z/OS Debugger and BMC Log Master
• Experience with COBOL, Easytrieve, TSO/ISPF and Syncsort.
• Experience developing complex ETL systems
• Experience with IBM DB2 Utilities such as DSNUTILB, IKJEFT01 (Batch Terminal Monitor program), DSNTIUAL, DSNTEP2, DSNTEP4, DSNTIAD, DSN1COMP
• Experience preparing formal presentations for management and staff.
