Senior Security Analyst

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated Senior Security Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in information security, with an emphasis on implementing security measures to protect data, software, and other information assets for civilian government agencies. This individual will play a critical role in shaping our security posture, influencing policy and procedures, and working closely with engineering and development teams to mitigate security risks and ensure compliance.

This position requires a highly skilled and experienced security professional who is ready to take on a challenging role with significant impact on our organization's security posture and operations. The Senior Security Analyst will report directly to the CISO and work with minimal day-to-day direction, demonstrating initiative, independence, and a deep commitment to our security mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Risk Management and Remediation:
  • Proactively identify security vulnerabilities and compliance issues through comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Develop and recommend remediation and mitigation strategies to address identified risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Lead the implementation of security measures to enhance the protection of data and systems.
• Policy and Procedure Influence:
  • Significantly contribute to the development and revision of security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure security practices align with industry regulations and standards, including NIST 800-53, FISMA, and FedRAMP.
• Technical Expertise and Support:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on security technologies and practices, providing guidance to engineering and development teams.
  • Offer technical expertise in the configuration and administration of security tools and software, such as Active Directory, ServiceNow, Splunk, and SharePoint.
  • Conduct technical security reviews and assessments of applications and systems.
• Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure security measures do not impede operational efficiencies.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of job roles and personalities, presenting complex security concepts in an understandable manner.

• Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay abreast of the latest security trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement of the security program.
  • Participate in and contribute to technical meetings, workshops, and security training sessions.
  
  

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Assist in project execution, supporting design, development, and documentation processes as related to security.
• Engage in business development activities, providing security insights and expertise.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in an information security role with demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
• Advanced knowledge of information security standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP) and regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in security technologies and tools, with hands-on experience in administering security systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently address and mitigate security challenges.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly preferred.

Security Clearance:

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government security clearance as required by project assignments.
