Senior Research Associate-Quantitative (Remote)

JBS International, Inc., a North Bethesda health and human services consulting firm, seeks a Senior Research associate to join fast-paced multidisciplinary research team. The Senior Research associate (quantitative) will lead the quantitative team in data collection and statistical analysis, and oversee and participate in designing and writing reports for a national evaluation of targeted funding.

The Senior Research Associate reports to the Project Director and provides direct technical expertise to the entire evaluation team in fulfilling goals and meeting deliverable deadlines with quality products. The Senior Research Associate is a member of the JBS Leadership group, functions as a member of a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary work team within a changing, fast-paced environment, and is expected to build relationships with clients and secure new business where possible.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Develops, implements, and oversees data cleaning protocols designed to proactively uncover and resolve data and calculation issues and validate quality of data elements/data editing
• Develops, implements, and oversees data analytic plans and protocols for quantitative analyses
  1. Designs systems and procedures for collecting, coding, and maintaining project-specific data
  2. Trains and supervises the extraction, cleaning, coding, and analysis of data from primary and/or secondary data sources (e.g., surveys, performance measure databases, national data sets, etc.)
  3. Researches and develops analytical tools to address issues, trends, patterns, and relationships in the data that provide answers to evaluation questions as well as questions posed by project administrators, staff, or clients
• Develops, trains, conducts, and oversees simple and complex analyses (e.g., statistical analyses used for experimental and quasi experimental designs such as multi-level modeling, structural equation modeling, longitudinal analyses, latent class analysis, propensity score matching, etc.) using statistical software programs
  1. Supervises others to contribute to and/or conduct analyses.
• Develops (or oversees the development of) surveys, interviews, or data abstraction procedures to address evaluation questions
• Oversees the performance of quantitative research staff.
• Attends project-related meetings
  1. As requested, serves as a representative on project and in workgroups
  2. May give presentations at meetings, trainings, and conferences
• Prepares high-quality materials for clients (e.g., reports, PowerPoint presentations)

1. Responds verbally and in writing as needed to questions and concerns
2. Converts data outputs to viewable form for analyses and presentations
3. Presents findings in coherent, thoughtful, and interesting manner, in writing and verbally
4. Develops dashboards and uses other data visualization techniques to present findings

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Participates in business proposal development efforts including developing evaluation and research plans.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: PhD in social sciences or related field (e.g., Epidemiology, Public health, Psychology, Sociology, or Statistics) with particular expertise in analysis of quantitative data required.

Language: English Fluency (oral and written)

Experience: 10 years of research and evaluation experience including using the analytic packages of SPSS (or R) (e.g., syntax writing/coding, descriptive statistics, correlations, t-tests) .

Knowledge: Strong project management background; must be highly adept at multitasking. Ability to communicate research and evaluation findings clearly to a variety of audiences both orally and in writing. Understanding of opioid use disorder.

Software Proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., running queries, building databases in Access and general Excel functions), data analytic software (SPSS)

Location: North Bethesda, MD headquarters or Remote.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: Development of infographics or dashboards for presenting data in a non-technical format.

Experience: Development of issue briefs and peer reviewed journal articles.
