Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Remediation Hydrogeologist in our Knoxville or Nashville, TN office.   This position for someone who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects, including conceptual site model development, regulatory interpretation, and remediation strategy development and implementation. This position supports the creation and implementation of new strategies by providing strategic solutions to our clients’ most complex problems. Our client base includes a diverse mix of industrial, institutional and governmental clients.

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec’s culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you’d work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. Some of the key responsibilities may include:

  • Task and project management, including planning and implementing investigation and remediation projects, budgeting and budget management, adherence to schedule, quality, client satisfaction, and profitability;
  • Management and mentoring of junior staff and managing subcontractors;
  • Work plan development, data evaluation, and report writing;
  • Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals;
  • Reviewing and managing written document production;
  • Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, regulatory personnel, and other parties; and
  • At times, job may also include fieldwork including multi-media environmental sampling, sediment sampling and characterization, drilling oversight, contractor oversight, and remediation system operations, maintenance, and construction.

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, or engineering, or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree the same. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E., P.G.) (required)

  • At least 8 years of direct environmental consulting experience in conceptual site model development, regulatory interpretation, and groundwater remediation strategy development, implementation, and performance evaluation; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required) 
  • Experience with field data collection and field data reporting. (required)
  • Experience with groundwater and surface water modeling. (preferred)
  • Serve as the technical specialist on impacted groundwater projects
  • Detailed understanding of USEPA regulations. (required)
  • Understanding of other Federal program regulations, including the FAR. (preferred)
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Demonstrated success in the development and management of clients. (required)
  • Excellent leadership skills. (required)
  • Strong background and understanding of business performance goals and risk management (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required) 
  • Must hold or be able to obtain Federal Government Clearance. (required)
  • In order to comply with government contract requirements and associated clearance requirements for this position, U.S. citizenship is required.
