Senior Quality Technician- 3Rd Shift

Shift: 10:30PM-6:30AM Sunday-Thursday

Pay: $20.50

Job Summary

The SR. Quality Technician assists the QA Manager and QA Supervisor(s) in the day-to-day operations of the Quality Assurance Department on a particular shift.

3-5   Essential Job Functions

·        Assigns workload and tasks to all Quality Inspectors and Quality Techs on the given shift while assuring departmental objectives and priorities are communicated to and understood by the quality staff through periodic audits and coaching.

·        Troubleshoots call outs made by the QA staff:

o   Accesses the non-conformance to determine the correct severity level and creates a quarantine report, if necessary.

o   Assists Quality Supervisor and production develop a proper rework plan for low/mid-level non-conformances.

o   Audits rework product to ensure it has returned to conforming level.

·        Owns the 1st production sample process:

o   Communicates the daily 1st production schedule to all applicable quality staff.

o   Assures 1st production samples forms are attached to the correct shop order.

o   Assists Quality Inspectors in sample pulling, if necessary

o   Performs the initial inspection on all 1st production samples in accordance with customer specifications and documenting any non-conformances.

o   Inputs samples into tracking log

·        Reviews wax standards against the upcoming candle schedule and informs the sample lab of expiring or missing standards.

·        Audits QA Cage to ensure compliance with departmental 5S practices.

·        Files a daily End of Shift Report to key quality department stakeholders documenting quality concerns, corrective actions, product holds, and any other applicable quality data gathered during the shift.

3-5 Vital Soft Skills

• Able to perform and/or instruct QA inspectors and technicians on all departmental tasks related to inspection (incoming, in-process, finished goods) as required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work accurately, with interruptions, to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to direct department and handle low level issues and altercations
• Able to learn and use quality tools (SPC, root cause analysis, data capture & analysis)
• Able to learn and use LEAN Manufacturing.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.

Range of Experience Required

1 to 3 years

Education Level Required (minimum degree)

Minimum of high school diploma; technical school or college training a plus

Additional Abilities Valuable for Success

Strong basic skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to interpret graphs and charts

The employee may be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, and aromas.  The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
