Job description

Curtis Instruments, a Kohler Co.., is seeking for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to design, install, implement and evaluate QC/QA Procedures/Work Instructions, sampling plans, Statistical Process Control Systems.

In this role, you may lead, train and/or mentor other QA engineering staff in all initiatives. The Senior Quality Engineer will be working closely with the Quality Manager to develop, improve, implement and maintain the quality system to ensure compliance with worldwide best practices. Also, will be researching quality issues associated with products to determine and direct elimination of root causes, and to diminish occurrences.

This position is located in our Puerto Rico Manufacturing Site - this role reports 100% on site.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Support the New Products Introduction and product transfer process and Perform and measure quality audits for both new product introduction and sustaining manufacturing efforts.
  • Supports the ISO 9001 and 14001 Standard internal and external audits process.
  • Support Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) System.
  • Develop and manage quality standards.
  • Monitor field returns and Performs Customer Complaints evaluations and recommendations.
  • Initiate and monitor continuous improvement programs to transform strategic directives into measurable goals and objectives.
  • Performs Customer Complaints and field returns units’ evaluations and recommendations.
  • Supports the First Article Inspection Reporting (FAIR) system.
  • Supports the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) system, Engineering Changes implementations and MRB Meetings.
  • Coordinate and facilitate efforts of engineering, operations, manufacturing and customer support groups to determine root cause, provide corrective action, and ensure closure.
  • Provide statistical analysis expertise for making data driven decisions.
  • Provide, track or drive feedback and corrective action to ensure established targets/goals are met.
  • Generate internal and external metrics and track performance.
  • Provide summary reports of supplier quality performance.
  • Interface with customers on all quality issues, leading customer contact on all Quality related issues (PPAP, FAI, Audits etc.)
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects, Lean Manufacturing Initiatives and implement process capability and QA kaizen events.
  • Provide leadership to and be a capable resource for the development of and execution of statistical process control.
  • Support process validation studies (PFMEA) for new processes.
  • Be a resource for design of experiments (DOE) and capability studies for the QA Engineering groups.
  • Other tasks related.

We are interested in hearing from you if you possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • 5-8 years’ experience in Quality Engineering and QA management.
  • CQE or CRE accreditation with CQA accreditation.
  • Experience in dealing one on one with customers on sensitive issues regarding product quality and reliability.
  • Working Knowledge base of ISO 9000, ISO 14001, QS9000, ISO/TS 16949and other Quality, National and environmental standards.
