Form of workPatton State Hospital, Human Resources Department is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full Time Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety) position in Enhancement Services (Grounds Presence). The Senior Psychiatric Technician is under the direction of the Unit Supervisor (Safety) of Enhancement Services.
The position will perform the Level of Care Nursing duties, primarily focusing on the safety and security of grounds within the Secured Treatment Area (STA). As the Shift Supervisor of Grounds Presence Staff (GP), the incumbent(s) will supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff engaged in basic behavioral and nursing care and safety/security of grounds within the STA for all patients. Incumbents may also be assigned to especially difficult or complex duties where the only supervision exercised is over patient/clients, such as directing or monitoring patient activities in a therapy program, bus transportation and visiting center.
Enhancement Services is looking for an individual that possesses a high degree of professionalism, initiative and independence with performing tasks. Candidates must be able to communicate in a courteous, professional and effective manner with different departments throughout the hospital. Candidates must have the ability to be tactful, exercise good judgement and maintain confidentiality when working with staff and management. The ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities is also a desired asset.
The incumbent will work with the GP team to provide a safe and secure environment. The position is crucial for the facility to continue to provide a structured safe and secure environment. A desirable candidate will be known for personal initiative, independent functioning and a strong work ethic. In addition, the qualified person must be patient-oriented, a collaborative team player, have awareness of safety/security, be patient, flexible and pay attention to detail.

Working Conditions
Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
