Senior Project Engineer

Position Overview:

Based inour Portland, TN facility, and reporting to the Manager Project Engineering, the Sr. Project Engineer will be responsible for actively participating in the development of innovative Shoals' products in the Solar, Battery Storage and eMobility market segments. As a Sr. Project Engineer, this hands-on position will design, manage and execute product design and development from concept through production in a cross-functional team environment and ensure that the highest levels of design reliability, quality and performance are observed.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Participate in cross-functional engineering teams to meet product and company objectives for the Product Engineering group. Define project milestones and report progress from concept to production.
• Provide project ownership for new product development multiple business segments for Shoals.
• Hands-on design and development of complex electro-mechanical assemblies and Bills of Materials in support of product development efforts.
• Coordinate all engineering tasks, agency regulations, testing and mitigations as necessary, orchestrate design reviews, support prototype, Alpha and Beta builds and testing for all phases of development.
• Ability to summarize and provide concise status reports of project progress. Ability to define issues encountered during development and provide options and recommendations for resolution.
• Work with internal resources and outside vendors and partners in support of product development.
• Collaborate with internal and external resources for Reliability Engineering, Product Testing and Compliance.
• Communicate design requirements to Shoals manufacturing and outside suppliers/contract manufacturers.

Experience/Qualifications:

• BSME or BSEE with 10+ years of experience in a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering product development environment.
• 3+ years of experience leading cross-functional development efforts (PV or EV experience a plus)
• Knowledge of product development process tools and analysis methods, including Phase-Gate development is required (Work Breakdown Structure experience is a plus)
• Experience with configuration management and the engineering change control process.
• Knowledge of safety standards and agency regulations, EMC and Environmental compliance (NEC code experience a plus)
• Demonstrated experience with the development of products from concept to final manufacture, balancing cost, performance and schedule. Design and development of low to medium-volume products a plus.
• Demonstrated experience interfacing with manufacturing engineering and production personnel.

• Experience in electronics integration and packaging, including thermal management of electronics enclosures and cable routing/management

• Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills; skill at developing and delivering technical subject matter presentations to non-technical staff and executives
• Team player who works across multiple functional areas to deliver project requirements.
