We have driven economic equity for 25 years by delivering highly impactful workforce development mentoring programs for over 25,000 individuals. These programs provide unemployed and underemployed adults in New York City and Washington D.C. with life-changing career opportunities while giving employers access to a pool of capable and diverse talent.

StreetWise Partners' one-year mentoring program provides customized, individualized mentorship for internship and job seekers while helping them establish an expansive professional network made up of hundreds of advocates who open doors and support long-term career success. By 2026 we aim to launch 1900 careers, which equates to $92m in first-year cumulative wages to transform individuals, families, and communities.

Position Overview:

StreetWise Partners seeks a dynamic and entrepreneurial Senior Program Director who can successfully lead and scale programming in the Washington D.C. metro region as part of a national mentoring organization. The Senior Director will oversee all program functions including facilitation and expansion of our 13-week mentoring program, oversight of a growing team, and collection and analysis of outcomes data. The Senior Program Director will support the engagement and advancement of 160 job seekers annually through the support of 300 volunteer mentors.

This is a full-time position based in Washington, D.C., and reports to the Chief Program Officer. The role is currently hybrid, with 1-2 days a week in the office, although additional office days may be required. This role requires 2 evenings a month.

Responsibilities Include:

Program Management

  • Manage and advance a team of 6; 3 full-time direct reports and 3 contract facilitators. Collaborate with several regional team members that support fundraising and partnership functions. Activate the organization's core values and guiding principles to build a strong team and positive culture.
  • Manage the implementation of our workforce development mentoring program for 160 adult job seekers each year, ages 18-65 from under-resourced communities.
  • Support the recruitment of 160 mentees each year; partner with the Manager of Client Services to design recruitment strategies, and develop partnerships with community organizations and colleges.
  • Support the recruitment of 300 volunteer mentors and 550 one-time volunteers per year; support the Manager of Volunteer Services in identifying sources of volunteers and developing and maintaining relationships with corporate partners.
  • Oversee the mentor-mentee matching process for 160 mentoring pairs each year; develop strategies to create strong matches based on industry, demographics, communication style, and personality traits.
  • Support Program Facilitators in administering weekly mentoring workshops with job seekers and mentors; provide guidance on program facilitation, conflict resolution, crisis intervention, communication, and other issues related to strong service delivery; intervene in difficult situations and problem-solve effectively.
  • Attend program sessions throughout the year to provide oversight and ensure high-quality curriculum delivery; engage with mentees and mentors to form relationships, elicit program feedback, and provide support.
  • Assist in curriculum review to ensure the content is nimble and demand-driven.
  • Oversee data collection including demographics, job placement, and salary increases through one-year post-graduation.
  • Manage program data within the organization's Salesforce database; analyze data and identify trends to deepen impact.
  • Assist with drafting outcomes reports for funders.

Partnerships

  • Collaborate with the Chief Partnerships Officer and Sr. Director of Talent Services to design and execute an engagement strategy to support volunteerism, employment, and funding.
  • Provide insight and content for foundation grants; advise on the launch of a new fundraising event to increase regional program revenue.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in workforce development with a proven track record in managing teams.
  • Record of accomplishment in generating positive, long-term relationships with diverse constituents including volunteers, nonprofit partners, clients, corporate leaders, and donors equally and effectively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sharing lessons learned, creative problem solving, exploring best practices, and continuously improving service delivery.
  • Passion for driving economic equity; sincere interest in the mission.
  • Experience with Salesforce or another database.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience in social services
  • Microsoft Office experience
Salary and Benefits
  • Comprehensive benefits package including 100% health care coverage for individuals.
  • 4 weeks of paid vacation and a paid week off at the end of the year.
  • Flexible work hours, select summer Fridays off, and a hybrid work schedule.
  • Salary range $90,000 - $105,000 annually


Physical Environment

This position requires sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity
