We are interested in growing our team with passionate, committed, and innovative individuals. The Senior Program Assistant Health Equity and Social Justice will join NACCHO at a time of dynamic growth. This position is important in the Programs Department.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr. Program Assistant is responsible for providing professional support for programs or internal functional activities and typically performs complex administrative or technical activities, usually under the direction of a Sr. Program Analyst or Director. The Senior Program Assistant will have a high school diploma or the equivalent and a minimum of three years' work experience. A graduate of a two-year associate degree program may be qualified for this position. Some persons holding bachelor's degrees may accept positions at this level to gain the experience or exposure needed to obtain a specialist position. The work of the Sr. Program Assistant supports the programmatic or functional work of the department, typically follows standard processes, procedures, and solutions, and includes basic project coordination (organization, administrative support, and complex scheduling), management of activities requiring system coordination, and extensive interaction with internal and external colleagues.
The Sr. Program Assistant understands policies, standards, and their application to their work. The Sr. Program Assistant understands implications of internal and external policies that impact their position. The SPA performs activities assigned with moderate direction from their supervisor. The Sr. Program Assistant may have frequent contact with outside organizations or internal interested parties that may involve project coordination, information sharing, or resolution of problems. They may be required to attend external meetings.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:
  • Perform administrative tasks; including but not limited to coordination of conference calls, virtual webinars, in-person conferences and meetings, and other special events.
  • Drafting emails, reports, memos, agendas, minutes, or other documents.
  • Process, track, and manage submission and payment of invoices and travel expense forms, including preparation of supporting documentation and check requests. Coordinate with contract, finance, and accounting teams for processing and to ensure compliance with applicable policies.
  • Support processing of other administrative paperwork as needed.
  • Manage project distribution lists and LHD contact lists.
  • Monitor and provide administrative updates for Health Equity and Social Justice webpages, track website statistics, and post new information as needed.
  • Compile the submissions of Health Equity and Social Justice-related news, fact sheets and content-related resources for dissemination to members via electronic newsletter and other NACCHO publications.
  • Administer and compile online surveys and polls, analyzing data, and producing simple tables and graphs.
  • Coordinate with appropriate communications staff to support the dissemination and promotion of project-related items, funding opportunities, resources, and publications.
  • Support NACCHO staff at external meetings (minimal travel required).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Senior Assistants will have a high school degree or the equivalent and a minimum of three years work experience. Associate Degree or equivalent relevant field and two years related experience; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Some persons holding bachelor's degrees may accept positions at this level in order to gain the experience or exposure needed to obtain a specialist position.
  • Experience working in an association environment a plus.
  • Excellent ability to balance multiple priorities, and to effectively communicate about the status of projects.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Medium level computer skills with spreadsheet and Microsoft Office software experience required. Experience with webpage maintenance a plus.
  • Interest in learning about local health departments, health agencies, and Health Equity and social justice efforts

Salary Range: $50,880 - $54,040
