Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Methods Planning

Full time- Contract or direct (6 months)
Position Overview:
As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for planning and developing the manufacturing operation sequences of various launch vehicle subassemblies. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into consistent manufacturing processes and methods which focus on quality and repeatability.
The roll is multifunctional with knowledge in flawless launch of engineering-released hardware and the subsequent manufacturing systems that convert products to reality. Knowledge of planning and building proper operation sequences from scratch with high complexity parts and sub-assemblies, sequence dependency timing analysis and prediction, flow-mapping for proper labor distribution and line balancing, PFMEAs, Control Plans, MES systems (work instructions, BOMs, work orders), jigs and fixtures development, and assembly tooling integration.
As an integral member of the team you will use data to manage and drive process and product transitions from engineering release to the manufacturing floor, and in general serve as a direct feedback loop between product engineering and production control.
This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment, adaptability, persistence, resourcefulness, engagement with team members, critical thinking skills, detailed attention towards safe and repeatable human spaceflight.

Core Responsibilities:
* Partner with hardware design teams, Manufacturing Engineering teams, and program leadership to ensure the timely roll-out of predictive mechanical and electrical assembly storyboards, subsequent assembly sequence maps, and dependency timing charts.
* Drive and support in-house process development initiatives to improve the speed and accuracy of how products are manufactured, assembled, and tested.
* Assist with transition of products from NPI phase to production phase and lead efforts to define and stabilize new and optimized production processes as required.
* Update assembly sequencing diagrams when engineering releases new revisions of parts or assemblies.
* Build template work orders for all future work orders derived from the operation sequence maps built in the first phases.
* Update old work orders currently in the factory to align with the new operation sequence maps and template work order formats.
* You will directly support engineering and production teams, creating and instituting MES process documentation methods.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Electrical, or Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
* Five to 15+ years of experience in manufacturing process planning and operation sequencing, dependency mapping, advanced manufacturing planning or NPI project management
* Knowledge of a wide variety of aerospace processes are key such as hardware design, complex assembly and sub-assembly techniques, process documentation, machining, fabrication, welding, fastening, NDT, product inspection and acceptance testing
* Experience running sophisticated datasets, spreadsheets, and Tableau dashboards as tools to define and refine Manufacturing Engineering systems
* Strong digital literacy (MS Excel, MS Project, MES Software)
* Strong interpersonal skills in technical work environments
* Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
* Must be a U.S. citizen due to the nature of the work
Desired not required skills:
* MBA and/or Project Management certification (PMP/Certified Project Manager)
* Knowledge and experience using CREO and Windchill
* Knowledge of layout of predictive assembly process story boards that get translated into manufacturing routings
* Knowledge of metal fabrication and machining techniques, heat treatments, welding, non-destructive testing, cleaning, plating and coatings, part marking, preservation and packaging, assembly and product testing, product inspection, along with the potential interactions of these items with product design and supply chain processes
