Senior Principal Optical Design Engineer
Job Description:
As a successful candidate you will be a key member of our new product development team driving the design, development, and validation of MACOM SiPh products for 5G telecom, datacenter, aerospace/defense, and emerging optical markets. You will collaborate with MACOM electronic integrated circuits team to develop co-designed co-packaged chipset solutions for IM-DD, Coherent, and RF-over-Fiber applications.
Responsibilities:
Design, simulation, testing and analysis of SiPh PIC and devices.
Work with sales and product engineering teams to identify and develop new products for emerging market opportunities.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop co-designed SiPh transceiver Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC) chipset solution with driver/TIA, laser/photodetector and micro-controller and novel SiPh devices for aerospace and defense applications.
Job Qualifications:
PhD or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
10+ years of experience in the development of Silicon Photonics and optical devices from concept to volume production.
Extensive design, simulation, and test experience with Mach-Zehnder modulator, electro-absorption modulator, polarization splitter and rotator (PSR), splitter/coupler, and other passive optical components.
Experience with SiPh foundry PDK and tape-out process.
Hands-on experience with high baud-rate PAM4 and coherent testing at die, wafer, and package levels.
Strong proficiency in modeling and layout tools: Lumerical, Zemax, Silvaco, HFSS, ADS, Cadence, KLayout, Matlab, Python and etc.
Self-motivated team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
