POSITION SUMMARY:
We have an immediate need for an experienced FPGA Engineer well versed in VHDL. This is a key position which will require you to lead the FPGA architecture for the next generation platform. The individual in this role needs to be VHDL focused, understand the language to play to its strengths in development of new architecture. This is in addition to having in-depth FPGA logic design skills with a depth of experience with diligence in design. This role is hybrid and can be based out of our Fort Collins or Denver locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in all phases of the FPGA design life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test of all products.
- Applies sound engineering principles in the development of digital design/architecture for the target application.
- Ownership of advanced digital architecture and design.
- Works with Systems Engineers and Program Management to decompose system level requirements.
- Functions as the FPGA design lead and reviews designs of team members.
- Works closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong VHDL knowledge with an emphasis on using language features towards elegant, maintainable, and testable designs.
- Development of self-checking test benches. Knowledge of methodology like OSVVM is highly desirable.
- Circuit design, documentation and implementation of high-speed digital electronics, FPGAs, and ARM based embedded processor systems.
- Strong understanding of synchronous design practices and data flow management (FIFOs, memories, pipelining).
- Experience in signal and power integrity analysis of digital/FPGA designs.
- Experience with Xilinx FPGAs and SoCs, with a focus on Zynq-7000 series and Zynq-UltraScale+ MPSoC.
- Enhanced knowledge of Vivado is a must. TCL scripting is highly desirable.
- Experience in developing specifications, and resource requirements for digital/FPGA designs.
- Familiarity with I2C, SPI, PCIe, Ethernet, USB, DDR3/4, and various standard IP cores.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience or 12+ years with a Master's degree
- VHDL programming experience with FPGAs required.
- Experience with embedded Microblaze microprocessors within FPGAs desired
- Experience developing FPGA test benches for test/validation purposes desired.
- Good understanding of Xilinx technologies, IPs and AXI4 protocol.
- Hands-on laboratory experience is critical and required. Specifically experience with Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering
COMPENSATION:
As required by Colorado law under the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the hires in the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $160,000 - $180,000. Information regarding additional benefits offered by Advanced Energy is provided below.
