Pricing Analyst
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with the ability to develop a strong network within Tradition Transportation Group freight industry to undertake price discovery and ascertain market developments. The role requires communicating with market participant, learning/knowing/uncovering market trends and developments, and synthesizing this information to develop proprietary pricing intelligence to be used by a variety of market constituents.
Pricing Analysts are responsible for determining profitability of existing accounts and proposing new pricing on accounts by analyzing several factors to determine cost and establish pricing necessary to attain proper contribution.
Responsibilities
- Prepare thorough and accurate customer contracts, amendments, notices, price letters and quotes ensuring department processes are followed end-to-end
- Increase efficiency and profitability through control and analysis of existing pricing.
- Support internal and external sales efforts on bid packages, and customer pricing.
- Analyze customer profitability.
- Analyze, prepare, and respond to bids offered by National Account customers
- Communicate and negotiate pricing with customers
- Perform competitive rate comparisons
- Knowledge of Transportation contracts
- Respond to inquiries on quote requests, courtesy invoice reductions and tariff/contract publications brought forth by internal and external customers
- Determine profitability of existing accounts and proposed new pricing on accounts by Review contract verbiage for submissions that may not be to our favor and forward to Legal with any inquiry
- Report data on pricings approved/profiles submitted
- Calculate costs of volume shipments to ascertain needed revenue for proper contribution on volume quotes
- Work closely with National Sales Directors, Account Managers, Regional Sales Directors and other Management and internal departments
- Understand rate structure, discount, FAK, minimum floor charges, accessorials, fuel surcharges, loading/unloading allowances, rebates, etc. and how it affects profitability
- Carries out major Pricing assignments in conducting the operations of the business
- Provide consultation or expert Pricing advice to management
- Continuously improve processes
