About the Role
As a Senior Platform Engineer, your primary focus will be designing and implementing innovative reusable solutions to meet the demands of evolving workflows. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in delivering maintenance and reliable support for NewRetirement's core platforms, ensuring their optimal performance and stability.
As a pivotal hands-on member of the DevOps practice collaborating with the core Infrastructure team and internal clients, you will contribute to the evolution from product management to service management. In your role as Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the execution of structured and standardized processes and tools to address critical capability gaps and maximize efficiency. Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying trade-offs in deployment plans and making informed day-to-day operational decisions that directly impact infrastructure investments.
What you will do:
- Identify processes at NewRetirement that need revamping for automation. The ideal candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert guiding the team on automation requirements.
- Design and build reusable cloud components to ensure scalability, high availability, performance, monitoring, and observability.
- Implement agile infrastructure management by codifying infrastructure and using automated configuration tools to enable rapid provisioning.
- Assist in-house teams with app/platform integration issues (security, service config, network flows).
- Create functional tests to validate systems and increase observability. (eg: test password retrieval)
- Drive the implementation of Kubernetes systems (EKS), replacing the current infrastructure.
- Ensure smooth platform operations through upgrades, patching, monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting. Identify automation opportunities to streamline processes and boost efficiency.
- Technical rep for team-managed services, including Identity services, Windows, Linux, Storage, Virtualization, and Secrets Management
- Ensure sustained support and effective operational efficiencies for NewRetirement's enterprise solutions built on the foundation of UNIX/Linux.
- Communication of issues across stakeholders. Regular interaction with people at different levels is expected.
- Serve as the team’s escalation engineer for 3rd level support activities.
- Provide periodic off-hours on-call support per team rotation.
What you bring:
- Mastery in containerization, specifically with Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
- 3+ years’ experience with automation and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, such as Ansible or Terraform.
- 3+ years’ experience with a scripting language such as Bash, Python.
- Experience deploying and managing applications using Helm Charts, facilitating efficient Kubernetes deployments.
- Working experience with interacting and developing Webhooks, RESTful APIs, pub/sub, supporting seamless integration between systems.
- Experience with enterprise Linux Distributions.
- Working knowledge of Certificates and working with Truststore/Keystores/OpenSSL.
- Solid understanding of fundamental technologies like DNS, load balancing, SSL, TCP/IP, networking, security best practices, performance, high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Working experience with AWS and the different products offered.

Salary range of $150,000 - $200,000 annually DOE and geographic area.
