Position SummaryProvides maintenance support for both Water and Wastewater Plants, including pump and lift stations and other areas within the distribution and collection system. Performs both preventative and reactive maintenance to plant facilities to maintain operation, including, but not limited, to the removal and repair of pumps, blowers, generators, belt presses. Experience with the operation and maintenance activities of Water and Wastewater Treatment operations.HIRING INCENTIVE: $1,000.00C License B License A License MAXAnnual $51,873.00 $55,504.00 $59,389.00 $68,298.00Monthly $4,322.75 $4,625.33 $4,949.08 $5,691.50Hourly $24.9389 $26.6846 $28.5524 $32.8356Work Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:30am-5:30pm / Friday 7:30am-11:30am Essential Functions Leads assigned crew members in performing routine maintenance (repairs and cleaning) of buildings/structures, equipment, fans, and blowers; includes but is not limited to conducting routine inspections, making mechanical repairs/adjustments and overhauling pumps, reduction gear, and variable speed drive units. Operates and monitors all processing equipment and machinery, operation, and maintenance of plant equipment with plant supervisory directives. Maintains and reviews maintenance records, including work orders, SOPs, O&M manuals, and other various equipment maintenance records. Responds to and takes appropriate action in relation to hazardous chemical leaks (chlorine, ammonia, sulfur dioxide), which require the use of an oxygen breathing apparatus. Responsible for ensuring confined space entry procedures are followed and properly documented. Assist Utilities Foreman duringassigned employees' annual evaluations, by providing input, feedback, and developing work plans, where required. Ensures crews are performing vehicle/equipment inspections and supply inventory on a routine basis. Responds to emergency call-out. Performs all other related duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED required.Experience2 years of work experience in a utility maintenance or mechanical repairs.OR Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is an acceptable substitute for the above specified experience requirements.REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIESKnowledge of: Knowledge of basic electricity, pump and motor, blower, drive, belt and other operating equipment maintenance needs. Knowledge and ability to apply basic chemistry and mathematical principles. Basic Knowledge of computer operations.Ability to: Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions. Ability to follow instructions, safety practices and standard operating procedures in performing assigned tasks. Ability to be punctual and attend work regularly. Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to learn and apply basic knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, equipment, controls, instrumentation, and hydraulics. Ability to interpret charts, flow diagrams, maintenance manuals and instructions. Ability to perform mechanical repairs, including gas/electric welding. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations as needed. Ability to distinguish different colors to read and interpret lab equipment and fluids.Skills Skill in use of personal computer including Microsoft Office, Open Office or similar word processing programs, e-mail and the internet. Must possess and exhibit skills necessary to operate assigned tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner.Special Requirements Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test, physical exam and functional capacity test. Must possess a valid State of Texas Driver's License Class "C" and good driving record as defined by City policy. Must obtain a valid State of Texas Drivers' License Class "CDL-B" within 6 months of hire. Must possess a Class C Water and/or Wastewater License through TCEQ at time of hire. Must obtain Class B Surface Water License within 1 year of hire. Preference will be given to applicants with wastewater treatment experience who already hold a Class B or higher Wastewater Certificate of Competency.
