Senior Plans Examiner (Ft 40/32Hr-Hybrid)

JOB SUMMARY

Our Building Plan Review Department is currently hiring a Senior Plans Examiner. This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Sacramento, CA office. The Senior Plans Examiner position involves working five days a week (Monday - Friday) between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm. We will consider someone for a 40 or 32 hour per week schedule. In this role you will review commercial, residential, and industrial project plans. Have a thorough knowledge of construction in section and plan review protocols, policies, and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strong understanding of California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, construction diagrams, plans, blueprints and specifications and evaluate them for compliance with governing codes and standards.
• Exhibit sound judgement in providing expert code interpretation.
• Ability to suggest alternate forms of compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Prepare and present effective oral and written reports.
• Represent the department at internal and external meetings.
• Current on legal and technical developments pertaining to building construction and codes.
• Mentor and train Plans Examiners.
• Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 to 10 years of industry experience, including 5 years reviewing plans for conformance to model codes.
• BS in Engineering or related field of equivalent work experience is desirable.
• Must possess an International Code Council (ICC) Certified Plans Examiner Certification or obtain it within six months of the date of hire.
• Strong computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with everyone regardless of level of technical expertise.

• Ability to be flexible and overcome obstacles to complete tasks.
• Regularly requires working in sitting position with computer for extended periods.
• Ability to travel to client job sites.

The compensation for this position is $45.00 - $63.00 per hour.
