Senior Pastor

Grace Brethren Church in Covington, Virginia is a small church in a small town. We have a tight knit, loving, and friendly congregation, which is a representation of the type of people who live in the area. After 38 years of faithful service, our Pastor and his wife will be retiring at the end of 2023, so we are currently seeking a new pastor to fill this role. The members of our congregation are predominantly older people and our average attendance for Sunday morning worship is currently around 25.

We are prayerfully searching for a forward-looking leader who will connect with the younger demographic. We offer a 4-bedroom parsonage to the pastor and their family. Applicants can expect a friendly, small-town environment with an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities including multiple lakes, rivers, a state park, and thousands of acres of National Forest lands to hunt, hike, or camp in, all within a few miles of the church.

Qualifications of the ideal candidate:
– Mature believer with deep Biblical and theological knowledge.
– Ability to clearly communicate the Word of God.
– Must meet the qualifications for a pastor laid out in the scriptures. (Titus 1:5-9, Timothy 3:1-7)
– Possesses a desire to reach the younger generation for Christ through the faithful teaching of God’s word.
– Currently ordained, or willing to be ordained into the Charis (Grace Brethren) Fellowship of Churches.
– Committed to the authority of scripture.
– Willing and able to perform some additional duties to accommodate daily activities going on at the church, such as unlocking/locking the church.
– Prior ministry experience is preferred.

Health insurance and the use of the parsonage are included in salary considerations.
