Background & Purpose of the Job
As a Senior Packaging Design Engineer, you will guide the development of holistic design opportunities into manufacturable products. You will also be present in earlier design phases to inspire and promote the creation of feasible design solutions from concept inception.
By persistently challenging current production methods and maintaining constant exchange of information and knowledge with relevant partners, you will have significant design impact on the design quality.

Making it real: Support the translation of design opportunities into detailed and excellent design solutions than can be produced economically

Design Engineering pioneer:
  • Combine the natural curiosity of Designer and Engineer to constantly keep one-step ahead of competitive and game-changing technologies.
  • Work in 2D technical drawing creation, analysis & understanding of part tolerances
  • Prove design solutions with risk analysis, FMEA engineering planning, working knowledge of predictive tools such as CAE, FEA, and virtual simulations and various prototyping methods.

Collaborator: Work closely with Packaging Engineering to identify and understand product specifications, create and validate prototypes. Cultivate regular and active exchange with supply chain to make sure manufacturing goes smoothly and to identify potential problem sources
Refine the brief: Support designers with adding technical requirements to a brief and guide design agencies in their fulfilment
Rigour: Constantly aiming for the best design solutions while paying meticulous attention to detail
Holistic thinker: Conduct meetings to bring front end innovation and back-end production excellence in alignment
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • 4+ years of experience within the engineering area of design in a corporate, supplier, or agency environment with a Bachelors Degree in the area of industrial design, mechanical engineering or Design Engineering.
  • Preferred are candidates who are experienced in spreading and integrating a design mindset within a global organization.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D modelling (Siemens NX preferred) and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Robust knowledge in material properties and processing, including 3D printing, injection molding, extrusion & injection stretch blow molding
  • Experienced in collaboration with external engineering agencies, partners and suppliers
  • Able to handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Early assessment and virtual prototyping methodologies and tools
  • Engineering analysis and simulation tools
  • Basic knowledge of design standards, codes and ways of working
  • Knowledge around the area sustainable design & engineering is a clear advantage

Pay: The pay range for this position is $83,200 to $124,700. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
