Essential Function
Lead customer service / technical support for OneNet's statewide Internet services.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Actively support router / switch installations, modifications and upgrades.
  • Maintains process workflows for Netgroup ticket activities and implements new technologies as applicable.
  • Perform network analysis and design for all network infrastructure.
  • Support services such as packet filtering, firewall services, VPNs and router upgrades.
  • Tier 2-3 support for the OneNet Helpdesk for network-related issues.
  • Support all router configuration and neighbor relationships.
  • Establishment, configuration and testing of new circuit connections.
  • Support of circuit changes, upgrades and modifications to facilitate customer growth.
  • Work in conjunction with the customer's technical / consulting services to establish, improve and/or upgrade customer services and / or OneNet offerings as required by the customer.
  • Document helpdesk activities through the use of the ServiceNow system for tracking and billing purposes. Monitor the ticketing system to ensure all tickets are handled in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance from all mission critical routing and switching gear.
  • Manages equipment purchases for the stability and growth of the OneNet network.
  • Primary lead engineer for MPLS network deployments.
  • Stays current with technological developments in dynamic networking protocols and procedures.
  • Address tasks and projects in the Network Group as assigned.
  • Develop L3 / L2 VPN configurations for network performance enhancements.
  • Serve on call rotation with Network Group.
  • Responsible for leading network group in all configuration changes to critical services.
  • Responsible for secondary level of management and design of all BGP interconnections with research service providers.
  • Supervises day-to-day activities of the OneNet engineers. May lead and direct training of other engineers.
  • Maintain, design and support all future network/services growth for OCAN.
  • Manages and designs advanced routing and switching fabrics for the OneNet network.
  • Advises on NOC Engineer trip scheduling to ensure adequate phone coverage.
  • Provide direct support to high profile customers.
  • Attends to obligations and supports other company initiatives as directed.
  • Document new design standards and improvements on existing processes.
  • Similar duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
A successful candidate must have the capability to plan, design, install and implement a variety of network infrastructures. The candidate should also possess the knowledge of telecommunications, firewalls, networks and computer operating systems. In addition, they should have a comprehensive understanding of TCP/IP and related protocols and technologies. The candidate should be proficient in dynamic routing protocol management (OSPF, BGP, ISIS, ie). Candidate should be proficient in configuration and management of Juniper and Cisco platforms. Must also be able to troubleshoot and provide solutions to telecommunications and application issues.
Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers and network customers. Candidate must be self-motivated and demonstrate a willingness to follow through on tasks and have the ability to learn and grow technologies relevant to advancing OneNet and its customers. Candidate should be proficient in project tracking and documentation. Candidate must provide a cellular telephone, cellular service and home Internet service for work-related activities.

Supervision
The employee performs work under the supervision of the Senior Director of Network Services.
Work Hours
Agency offices are open to the public from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Monday through Friday. These are the normal office hours for Agency employees.
Physical Demands
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate a computer, keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels, with or without aids. Ability to communicate clearly. Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds (on occasion up to 50 pounds), to bend, crawl, stoop, climb stairs or ladders, walk and reach. Must use the proper manual handling equipment including but not limited to dollies, carts and lift team members. Duties are normally performed in an office environment with a moderate noise level.
