Senior .NET Software Architect
Job Description:
LOCATION: This is a HYBRID position in Jacksonville, FL.
SUMMARY
As a Senior .NET Applications Architect, you assume overall responsibility for creating and driving the technical strategy of a premier Black Knight AWS cloud based application. You will partner with business, product and a self-managed agile team to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud (private and public) architectures that provide durable solutions to business problems. You will guide the design and delivery of complex integrations involving UI, backend API and AWS cloud components. You will accelerate and influence the adoption of modern technologies to reduce cost of ownership and the speed and accuracy of delivery to solidify and extend Black Knight's competitive advantage. You will collaborate with product, business and agile team members to deliver value across all products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides .NET and React design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy
  • Has solid knowledge of .NET object-oriented approaches in designing, coding, testing and debugging programs
  • Develops microservice and serverless applications and custom integration solutions, generally for one business segment; solutions include enhancements and interfaces, functions and features
  • Architects systems designed to run natively in and across public cloud providers
  • Works directly with AWS and OpenShift (OCP) services and technologies
  • Provides solid knowledge and skill regarding the integration of applications across the business segment
  • Plans, designs and develops moderately complex software solutions, utilizing the Agile SAFE framework
  • Determines specifications, then plans, designs and develops moderately complex software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes - either individually or in concert with project team
  • Will assist in resolving support problems as necessary
  • Recommends programming, development standards, procedures, and programming architectures for code reuse
  • Understands and consistently applies the attributes and processes of current application development methodologies
  • Ensures Black Knight technology vision and direction is observed in existing and proposed architectures
  • Researches and acquires knowledge in emerging technologies and apply knowledge to proposed business solutions
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
  • Requires 12+ years of experience in information technology with at least 8 years of experience working in applications architecture
  • Experience in .NET object-oriented design and development with an emphasis on RESTful web services
  • Experience designing or developing cloud native applications
  • Experience with modernized frontend frameworks such as React and Angular

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with AWS Technologies such as RDS, serverless, ECS/EKS
  • Experience with containerized applications (e.g. OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
  • Familiarity with REST API concepts and technologies and tools such as OpenAPI/Swagger
  • Familiarity with strangler approaches to decompose monolith based applications
  • Experience in delivering solutions utilizing microservices based architectures
  • Experience building applications designed to run natively within and across public cloud providers
  • Experience integrating public cloud applications and services with on premise systems
  • Familiarity with contemporary cloud native architectures, taking advantage of autonomous services and other unique cloud capabilities, such as serverless compute
  • Working knowledge of data streaming tools like Kafka or AWS Kinesis Streams
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) concepts and experience with developing terraform/cloud formation scripts desired
  • Familiarity with opensource database technologies such as Aurora, MySQL, or others
  • Familiarity with nonrelational database technologies such as Dynamo, Mongo, or Redis
  • Understanding of unit testing, TDD (Test Driven Development) and/or BDD (Behavioral Driven Development)
  • Familiarity with API first strategy and related tools and technologies highly desired (e.g. API Gateway, OpenAPI Spec, OAuth2)
  • Proficiency in solutions design and requirements definition disciplines leveraging model driven design based tools and techniques including conceptual solution component models, business process models, use cases, etc.
  • Familiarity working in a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) leveraging Agile principles
  • Willingness to act as a servant architectural leader to an agile team
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization (e.g., executive, management, individual contributors)
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
  • Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts
  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly and act in the role of teacher, mentor and coach
  • A thorough understanding of design patterns and their application
  • Ability to define, communicate a shared architectural vision to ensure developed system is fit for its intended purpose
  • Any AWS or OCP certifications desired
