Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- You will work to build our Cloud Platform, designing and developing web services and REST APIs using Python and/or Java..
- The successful candidate will have deep development experience in cloud microservices, and has built robust, highly scalable, high-performance distributed systems that connect cloud microservices with mobile, web, and standalone applications, and / or smart devices to offer consumers a wide range of functionality that can grow with time.
Responsibilities include:
- Design and build highly scalable, resilient, performant cloud microservices and APIs that interface with devices, mobile applications, third-party services and applications, cloud infrastructure, and other microservices
- Collaborate with front-end and mobile app teams to develop product features and services
- Work with QA on developing testing processes, frameworks, and automation strategies
- Work with platform architects on software and system optimizations, helping to identify and remove potential performance bottlenecks
- Document the work you do, especially APIs that you create
- Focus on innovating new and better ways to create solutions that add value and amaze the end user, with a penchant for simple elegant design in every aspect from data structures to code to systems architecture
- Stay up to date on relevant technologies, plug into user groups, understand trends and opportunities to ensure we are using the best techniques and tools
Qualifications:
- 5+ years working in software development for cloud, web, or mobile applications
- 2+ years of experience developing microservices for distributed systems using Python or Java.
- Experience using and developing REST APIs, using tools such as RAML and Swagger / OpenAPI
- Working knowledge of Python
- Working knowledge of HTTP, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, Web Sockets
- Development experience on Linux-based systems and mobile applications a plus
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
- Strong sense of ownership, passionate, fast learner, detail-oriented, analytical mindset, perfection seeker
- One or more of the following are highly desirable
- Experience developing microservices on AWS, Azure, or similar platforms
- Embedded/Cloud IoT application development a plus
- Working knowledge of NoSQL database systems such as Mongo, Cassandra, HBase, BigTable, or Redis
- Experience with cloud-based distributed application scaling & data processing
