The Senior Media Engineer is part of a critically important technology team responsible for the support and innovation of CBS News Post-Production and CBS News Archives environments. This role entails multiple responsibilities including on-air broadcast support, systems administration, and media management. We are seeking dedicated technical minds with the ability to provide critical support for a worldwide news organization!
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of support experience in a live, broadcast, or creative environment providing L1/L2 support for video editing, ingest, playout and archive operations.
- Vast experience in Adobe or Avid ecosystems.
- Considerable knowledge of enterprise infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls, TCP/IP, DNS).
Additional Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of PAM and MAM systems and workflows.
- Expertise with video formats, codecs, compression schemes and wrappers
- Advanced knowledge of video signals and protocols - SD, HD, UHD, HDR, SRT, NDI, RTSP
- Ability to quickly Identify and resolve issues with hardware and software, settle underlying reasons, and apply suitable fixes.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft image creation and deployments using Hyper-V and MDT.
- Experience coordinating Windows and Linux servers; proficiency with command line.
- Experience using Microsoft SCCM for patching and software updates.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix or New Relic.
- Foundational knowledge of cloud infrastructure with either AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Experience supporting archive middleware such as Telestream Diva.
- Experience with remote access including Leostream, HP Zboost, Teradici or similar
- Experience with project management and ticketing systems (Service Now, Asana, Jira).
- Ability to lead all media assets and metadata across on-premises and cloud post-production systems; deliver content to bureau or external locations as needed.
- scripting proficiency with Python, PowerShell or Bash a bonus.
- Ability to build clear and concise documentation that is understandable by a range of collaborators.
- Great standout colleague ; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stay updated on the latest technologies and industry trends and make recommendations for equipment upgrades or workflow improvements.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work nights, weekends or holidays is required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $115,000.00 - 135,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
