Job Description:
The Head of Operations has overall responsibility for the management and control for all operations activities and for leading the supply chain, planning, manufacturing, QESH, CI and logistics functions that
constitute the Operations Team.
Collaborate and work closely with internal and external key stakeholders regarding technical support for activities.
Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental issues are prioritised and facilitated.
Provide clear leadership and vision, inspire, and motivate staff to achieve productivity and mentor them as they develop new skills.
The role requires strong leadership that develops and drives a continuous improvement culture with measurable improvements in customer focus, OTIF, quality and operational excellence.
The Head of Operations must ensure efficient and professional order fulfilment, from the receipt of raw materials to successful dispatch to client sites internationally.
Success in this role will manifest itself through the advancement and achievement of World Class levels of customer satisfaction, agility and manufacturing performance, delivering operational results that meet or surpass the strategic objectives and include driving Key Performance Indicators across all areas of the Manufacturing function to ensure that all products are delivered to cost and on time to the highest quality standards.
Role Accountability:
Accountable for ensuring the promotion of customer focus throughout Operations.
Understand the Company’s obligations to quality and apply the appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) pertinent to the role.
Collaborate with quality and technical for concessions for release of products not covered in standard processes, re-work of any components identified as out of specification (as appropriate based on
risk/impact to the company)
Accountable for all aspects of customer order fulfilment, from the point of sales order entry to successful shipment of equipment to client sites internationally.
Lead the operations team through transformational change, setting direction and pace with an engaging and inclusive leadership style, to gain their full commitment to achieve World class levels of
agility, manufacturing performance and a “Right First Time” quality & customer-focussed mind-set.
Develop and implement agreed short/medium/long term operations plans that reflect the Board’s strategic plans and comprise focussed and SMART departmental and individual objectives and
behaviours that are aligned to the Company’s priorities.
Ensure that appropriate key performance indicators are set, monitored and reported regularly. Take the appropriate actions necessary to drive performance improvements in health and safety, quality,
customer satisfaction and productivity.
Accountable for health & safety for staff, visitors and contractors, environmental performance to current industry standards and energy management towards carbon net zero.
Drive continuous improvement to deliver measurable improvements to efficiency, controlling and proactively reducing the Cost Of Goods Sold.
Appropriately deploy lean best practices, reducing waste, enhancing quality, agility and repeatable efficiencies.
Recommend and introduce new technology, processes and systems to advance operations.
Actively support deployment of new IT systems for operations data, stock control, production control and order management.
Prepare and own the departmental budget including the capital expenditure requirement necessary to advance capability, meeting agreed objectives and managing departmental spend.
Ensure optimal usage of production plant and ensure manufacturing teams are underpinned by appropriate headcount; proposing capital equipment/factory development purchases and reporting Return on Investments.
Develop robust manufacturing planning and dynamic stock management systems that support increased output and stock turns.
Ensure that customer orders are delivered On Time In Full
Establish effective methods to facilitate new product introductions, removing obstacles and pulling new products through the factory so that they are available for sale at planned launch dates.
Coach, mentor and develop direct reports and manage a high performing team that delivers continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.
Ensure that recruitment, on-boarding, performance reviews and careers plans are consistently delivered across the team. Set out clear roles and responsibilities and ensure the team are appropriately empowered ‘to do the right thing’. Review employee feedback and develop action plans as appropriate to allow them to succeed in their roles and support succession planning.
Ensure excellent standards of housekeeping throughout the Company and safe working methods to safeguard health and safety and support operational efficiency.
Responsible for the premises, site facilities and equipment. Including planned maintenance, integrity and security.
Manage attendance, holidays, disciplinary issues and procedures as appropriate.

Review environmental strategies that impact on future ways of operating and ensure implementation where possible.
Review the use of technological systems that support a more environmentally friendly approach.
Review opportunities to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

Person Specification:
Proven success leading operations within a robust Quality Management System for a World class manufacturer.
Proven success specifying, implementing and operating manufacturing IT systems
