The Sr. Treasury Manager, Derivatives will be reporting to the Director, Corporate Finance & Derivative and will be responsible for the derivative and spot trading execution of the Company’s global foreign exchange and commodity hedging operations and ensure compliance with internal policies as well as external regulations. This person will handle the global derivative portfolio and related exposures with external trading counterparties and serve as the primary point of contact for derivatives with other Company functional areas and with senior management. You will be managing the treasury management systems required for maintaining and reporting on the company’s global book of derivatives.  The position will support and lead special projects as required, including but not limited to acquisitions/divestitures, foreign subsidiary capital structure changes, dividends and cash repatriation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all FX and commodity derivatives trading for the Company.
  • Collect and consolidate Emerson’s international currency exposures.  Responsible for regularly updating exposure data and ensuring the integrity of the information.
  • Manage derivatives relationship with counterparties and determine best fit for derivatives business transacted with each counterparty.
  • Maintain database of corporate and business unit hedge contracts using best in class software capable of meeting all internal and external regulatory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of all derivatives' regulation that directly impacts Company’s hedging programs and communicate actions as deemed necessary.. Consult with financial institutions as required on events impacting the currency market.
  • Research Company’s ability to hedge its foreign exchange and commodity exposures in the various global jurisdictions and help develop and recommend strategies to hedge exposures.
  •  Build and maintain audit compliant processes for derivatives. Work with internal and external audit as it relates to hedging.
  • Provide support to Corporate Treasury, Business Unit Finance, Accounting, Tax, etc. as it relates to issues involving derivatives. 
  • Conduct regular reviews and assessments of existing currency risk management programs to ensure their effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Lead cross functional teams on select special projects.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports to senior leadership on currency risk exposure, hedging performance, and market trends.
  • Provide timely reports to management and accounting on Emerson’s exposure and hedge positions:
  • Mark-to-Markets; Cash activity; Settlement gains/losses

You will also: 

  • Serve as primary collaborate with business units on currencies:
  • Consult and advise business units on methods to hedge their exposures.
  • Train business unit personnel on fundamentals of foreign exchange management.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Treasury or related field. 
  • Understanding of financial markets including FX, Commodities, Interest Rates, and derivative valuation techniques.
  • Strong computer and spreadsheet skills.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to apply financial models and data analytics tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross functional teams.

Preferred Education & Experience: 

  • MBA or relevant advanced degree
  • Minimum of 7 years prior work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in corporate treasury foreign exchange and commodities risk management.
  • Familiar with ASC 815 hedge accounting rules, documentation and testing.
  • Experience with hedging management tools such as Reval, FXall and Bloomberg.
  • Experience with risk management information systems/treasury management systems.

Flexible Work Schedule - Remote Work Option:

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and efficiency as we serve the needs of our customers.

Position located at 8000 West Florissant Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63136 (Ferguson, MO).  Emerson's Corporate Headquarters will be moving to the Clayton Business District by Fall 2024.
