Job Description
Position Overview
The Senior Manager of Transmission Community Partnerships at Invenergy will lead community benefits planning and partnership development and management for Invenergy's portfolio of transmission projects, in order to deliver on Invenergy's commitments to economic justice and good company citizenship and to ensure broadly shared prosperity in the clean energy transition. This will include working with external and internal stakeholders to establish, implement, and monitor Community Benefits Plans, community benefits agreements, and other initiatives for Invenergy's portfolio of development-stage transmission projects. The role will ensure that the economic investments and resources deployed to advance large-scale infrastructure investments serve the interests of the projects and respond to the needs and priorities of stakeholders including tribes, local communities, project workforces, and others.
Responsibilities

  • Establish a consistent, programmatic approach across Invenergy's transmission projects to community benefits planning, implementation, and monitoring, guided by the Department of Energy (DOE) Community Benefits Plan (CBP) framework and based on and in furtherance of industry best practices for community benefits agreements.
  • For each portfolio project, implement a comprehensive community benefits approach, including engaging external and internal stakeholders to identify CBP priorities, lead the drafting and development of a community benefits plan that is specific, actionable, and measurable, and facilitate resource-planning and program management to ensure commitments are met throughout the complete project lifecycle.
  • Engage with other third-parties in the development, implementation and monitoring of community benefits plans, including DOE, community partners, and other stakeholders as applicable.
  • Work with company and project team leadership to ensure substantial and equitable shares of transmission project investments and benefits flow to disadvantaged communities, including where required, to meet the federal government's Justice40 initiative or other federal, state, and local standards. Serve as the lead internal subject matter expert (SME) on documentation and reporting to ensure compliance with these requirements.
  • Support the structuring of the Clean Path New York community investment fund, working with counterparts at Invenergy's project partner organizations.
  • Cultivate effective working relationships with community partners, local, state, and national advocates, labor and other stakeholders with whom Invenergy engages across its transmission projects.
  • Identify opportunities where the scale of Invenergy's industry-leading high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission project project portfolio can support community, state, and national goals to advance a skilled and diverse transmission industry workforce.
  • Represent Invenergy and serve as a company spokesperson at meetings and events with external stakeholders, including public community, industry forums, and with media.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 6-8 years of relevant full-time experience
  • Knowledge of DOE's Community Benefits Plan framework, the Justice40 initiative, and federal infrastructure project reviews, including under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, and/or experience with corporate, utility, or infrastructure project community and stakeholder engagement programs.
  • Proven ability to demonstrate cultural competence in engaging with diverse constituencies including tribes, disadvantaged communities, or labor and workforce development organizations
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing the scoping, budgeting, negotiating, structuring, implementation, and reporting of CBPs and/or Community Partnerships or benefits agreements
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the electric power sector preferred

Salary Range
$140,000 - $155,000
Benefits
Eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401(k), bonus, paid time off, etc.
