POSITION MANDATE
The Senior ManagerSustainability Initiatives role on Resonance’s Impact Advisory team will have business development, client relationship, and project management responsibilities in developing and driving nature-based solutions focused on our corporate, foundation and NGO clients. The Senior Manager will contribute to delivering practical and effective strategies and providing analysis and research to identify priorities that enable clients to have collaborative and innovative approaches to nature-positive outcomes. Candidates should have a deep understanding of how sustainable business practices and cross-sector partnerships can support client climate and sustainability commitments.
Resonance is hybrid posture employer. This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC; Burlington, VT or remote, reporting to the Managing Director, Resonance Impact Advisory.
OUTCOMES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Client Engagement and Project Management (60%)
- Manage client relationships by developing and delivering a written Advisory Delivery Agreement (ADA) with well-defined mutual expectations in partnership with the RIA MD and client lead.
- Developing and executing projects and partnerships to the highest degree of client satisfaction and operational excellence, evidenced by a regular (quarterly) cadence of achieving Exceeds or Excellent client satisfaction score and a solid Promoter NPS indicator.
- Design and deliver technical approaches, identify appropriate partners and build practical, effective project concepts across various stakeholders to drive sustainable impact. Lead client engagements and provide end-to-end oversight of project activities, budgets, deliverables, client relationship management responsibilities, etc.
- Support client team members by:
- Executing the established SLA and collaborating and influencing to ensure the engagements yield high-quality deliverable.
- Ensuring that client teams’ suggestions and concerns are addressed and escalated on time and as appropriately outlined in the SLA.
- Proactively monitoring environments and conditions leading to project/program success.
- As an account manager, grow and deepen relationships with existing clients, supporting new areas of exploration within their unique nature-positive supply chain challenges and aspirations, identifying new areas of work, and achieving overall business growth.
- Own project budgets by maintaining and tracking all project spending and staff utilization to ensure strong financial performance.
Business Development (20%)
- Deliver additional follow on work or new SOWs from existing clients, and drive new revenue through a business development strategy focused on nature-based industries in close collaboration with the Managing Director, RIA colleagues, the Government, MEL and marketing teams
- Develop progressive pipelines of high potential clients and partners in nature-based industries – food/agriculture, apparel, cosmetics, CPG etc.
- Support RIA client base with climate impact (adaptation and resilience) projects
- Draft and review proposals and scopes of work for new or existing clients that showcase current services and offer innovative approaches to existing business and sustainability challenges.
Thought Leadership and Technical Excellence (10%)
- Serve as an SME in working with Resonance’s marketing team to expand our position among prospective corporate clients through blog posts, case studies, podcasts, webinars, and articles demonstrating Resonance’s leadership in sustainable impact partnership and approach development. Materials created will drive private sector partnerships and accelerate Resonance approaches to address the nature-negative elements of their supply chains.
- Build technical excellence within RIA and across Resonance by developing and delivering training, speaker series, tools, etc.
- Develop and deliver blogs, articles, webinars, etc., with a view to the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and their set of disclosure recommendations and guidance for organizations to report and act on evolving nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks, and opportunities to enable business and finance to integrate nature into decision making, and ultimately support a shift in global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes.
- Develop and deliver blogs, articles, webinars, etc., to enable businesses to figure out how to adapt business models that address the impacts of climate change and the impacts due to the transition to a climate-resilient economy.
Leadership and Skills Development (10%)
- Lead and manage Resonance teams by:
- Creating and enabling practical developmental situations will provide team members with experiential growth and increased capacity and ensure they have and use development time to advance their careers and knowledge.
- Creating and effectively managing good OKRs that include both quantitative and qualitative metrics.
- Ensuring that client teams’ suggestions and concerns are addressed and escalated promptly and as appropriately outlined in the SLA.
- Proactively monitor environments and conditions to preempt situations affecting project/program success.
- Engage in progressive self-development, following a clear set of actions and goals from a customized individual development plan.
- Model leadership behaviors and competencies consistent with Resonance values and a high-performing culture.
- Collaborate with HR and other teams to develop and implement learning and professional development activities for staff across the company
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in business administration, international development, sustainability studies, or related field
- 8 years of progressively responsible experience in management consulting and/or corporate supply chain management.
- 2+ years of experience in developing and managing sustainability strategies for organizations.
- Demonstrated understanding of sustainability and ESG market trends in areas such as sustainable sourcing, circularity, climate, water and regenerative agriculture through relevant coursework and work experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing a small team of direct reports.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Experience developing or supporting multi-stakeholder partnerships.
- Experience working in a management consulting practice in a management consulting capacity.
- Experience working with emerging markets.
- Background/knowledge or familiarity with TNFD (Taskforce for Nature Financial Disclosures)
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS
Ability to travel up to 30% internationally on short notice.
