Overview

• Global Scientific Communications and Publications has responsibility for the development and delivery of internal and external scientific communication strategy and related tactics including global publications (e.g., abstracts, posters, manuscripts) and scientific materials such as slide decks for use by Medical Affairs around the world. • A critical function within Scientific Communications and Publications includes driving, supporting/supervising, and/or leading complex publications projects. • This role supports Global Publications leads to ensure that the department develops and delivers publications efficiently and consistently, while adhering to corporate policies and external regulations and guidance. The Senior Manager, Scientific Communications & Publications, provides support to the Associate Director/Director for the development and execution of the global publications plan for the assigned therapeutic areas. • Effective support requires project management expertise that includes driving complex timelines for multiple concurrent projects with attention to detail. This position requires engagement with internal stakeholders that include research and development, health economics and outcomes research, clinical development, marketing, biostats, corporate communications, and medical affairs around the world, as well as external stakeholders, including authors, medical experts, investigators, publishers, and publication support vendors/agencies. • The Senior Manager, Scientific Communications & Publications drives the timely execution of the publication plan. This may include interpretation and summarization of feedback from multiple cross-functional stakeholders on scientific and clinical publications, and identification of appropriate publication and presentation forums for data dissemination. • The title will be determined upon evaluation of credentials and will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and provide strategic insight to the Assoc Director/Director of Scientific Communications in the development of a comprehensive strategic publication plan and implementation for the assigned therapeutic area(s).
  • Support the planning, development, and submission of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts from Insmed sponsored research studies. This may include review of draft content, editing to align with author direction, fact/data checking when needed, serving as a liaison with biostatistics to obtain additional data, and overall driving project management to meet deadlines. The Senior Manager is expected to own their own publication projects, with the decision on ownership being made in consultation with the Assoc Director/Director of Scientific Communications
  • Identify potential timeline risks, issues, and deviations from plans, and collaborate to implement solutions.
  • Manage and track the publication plan to ensure its timely execution. Regularly meet with/consult with cross-functional partners to ensure overall alignment on publication plan and execution.  
  • Provide oversight of agency maintenance of documents in the publication planning platform software (i.e., Datavision), ensuring database completeness, accuracy, and integrity.
  • Ensure the publication development process is consistent with Insmed policies & SOPs and compliant with current relevant guidelines including, but not limited to, International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) guidelines, CME Open Payments reporting, and Good Publication Practice (GPP).
  • Support the Scientific Communications, Compliance, and Legal functions in development and conduction of audit procedures.
  • The Senior Manager is expected to be able to work autonomously, and on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The Senior Manager may be expected to travel to national/global congresses to provide publication support to Insmed colleagues.
Position Requirements:
  • Advanced degree required (master's or doctorate).
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or medical communications agency, primarily in Medical Affairs. Publications project management experience is required.
  • Expert knowledge of relevant guidance including, but not limited to ICMJE, PhRMA guidelines, CMS Open Payments reporting, and GPP required.
  • Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) credentialed preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and document management systems (e.g. Datavision, SharePoint, Veeva Vault, SmartSheets) preferred.
  • Medical writing experience required.
  • Ability to manage external vendors and provide clear, concise direction.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, and conciseness.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within collaborative and cross-functional teams.

 Less than 10% travel

Salary Range

Insmed takes into consideration a combination of candidate's education, training, and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
The base salary range for this job is from $116,000.00 to $161,333.00 per year
