Job description

The Senior HR Manager acts as a business partner to the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) function by providing proactive guidance and support to enable business success through identification and implementation of effective HR programs and practices. The position is tasked with ensuring alignment between ISC and HR activities and objectives to add value to the business. The incumbent will have a deep understanding of the business’s strategy and use a consultative, problem-solving approach to identify solutions to business needs using experience and data analysis. The Senior HR Manager provides consulting and coaching to departmental leaders in order to support the business’s vision, mission, and values and to promote a positive culture and engaged workforce. This includes effective employee relations and execution of other employment practices and HR programs (Talent Management, Compensation administration, Performance Management, Retention strategies, Organizational Design, Succession Planning, etc.). May develop and/or deliver employee and manager training on relevant HR topics. Requires a thorough knowledge of current employment laws and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive information. Leads a team of Generalists to achieve objectives in support of larger areas of the organization, such as Operations and Supply Chain.
This leadership position reports to the Director, Human Resources. This role is considered a HYBRID position. The ideal candidate will be located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area with periodic onsite work at our North American manufacturing headquarters in Apple Valley, MN
What will you do?
Business Partnership- Provide guidance and coaching to VP’s, business leaders and department managers in the areas of:
  • Employee relations, ensuring timely resolution of employee matters through consultation, advice and coaching
  • Business strategies, support execution through organizational development, including organizational change planning, talent management initiatives, workforce planning and employee engagement utilizing change management principles. Partner with Senior Manager, Employee Experience on related initiatives and programs.
  • Compensation, ensure competitiveness of our compensation plan by making salary recommendations in line with the external market while ensuring internal equity. Partner with Senior Manager, Compensation and Benefits on related initiatives and programs.
  • Employee development, by actively seeking learning opportunities and connections to support personal and professional growth of leaders and employees in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Employee Experience.
Project Management and Participation –Work with local and global teams to ensure alignment with company values, strategies and policies.
  • Lead and/or participate on project teams and committees and ensure implementation and communication of the initiative to affected departments across the organization.
  • Monitor and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to ensure alignment with Company values and local legislation and to facilitate continuous improvement/best practices that support business success.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Effectively manages a team of Generalists to achieve business objectives in the areas of responsibility. Provides effective coaching, feedback and development of team members to foster engagement and a positive employee experience, as well as to create career progression and succession planning opportunities.

  • Work in partnership with business groups and leaders to promote a culture that listens, trusts, respects and demonstrates the business’s core values at every level.
  • Assist with the development and execution of resources (surveys, focus groups, etc.) that aim to solicit feedback and ideas to improve morale, culture, engagement and retention throughout the organization.
  • Provide insight to leaders to ensure policies and procedures throughout the company fit the needs and goals of the organization and leadership.
HRIS and Compliance-
  • Actively and accurately manage the employment changes and actions within our HRIS system adhering to the recommended timelines for each process. These processes include; job requisitions, organizational moves, terminations, merit, STI/SIP, leading performance, goal setting, and compensation changes.
  • Manage the unemployment process, representing the company if needed in ongoing claims.
  • Maintains a clear and detailed knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and labor legislation.
  • Stays up-to-date on local/state/global employment laws and HR best practices through ongoing training, seminars and education.
  • Upholds confidentiality and discretion with sensitive and protected employee information.
What will you need?
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field, required
  • 7+ years’ experience in Human Resources, required
  • A thorough understanding of key employment law and HR compliance requirements
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues
  • Ability to research and analyze data, metrics, trends and industry-related information
  • Effective leadership skills to ensure alignment and to foster a positive team environment
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgement that is aligned with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and delegate effectively to handle multiple projects
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Positive, high-energy style
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP, preferred
