Senior Mammography Technologist

Position Summary: As a Senior Mammography Technologist, you will perform a range of routine and specialized breast imaging procedures, exercising independent judgment and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Collaborating with the Breast Imaging Manager, you'll contribute to directing the workforce and maintaining the Quality Assurance program, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Understand and adhere to the Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
• Coordinate resources and staff for efficient, safe, and quality patient care activities.
• Communicate and ensure compliance with institutional/departmental policies and procedures, quality initiatives, and regulatory standards.
• Manage day-to-day activities and workflow for front desk, Mammography, Breast MRI, and Ultrasound staff in collaboration with the Breast Imaging Manager.
• Manage staff schedules, ensuring proper coverage across all shifts for all modalities.
• Prioritize overall activities and assign/delegate work to meet workload requirements, anticipating the impact of special/emergency requests and implementing plans to meet daily expectations.
• Work with the manager on onboarding of new staff, timekeeping, training, and development.
• Conduct mid-year and annual reviews on direct reports.
• Provide mentoring and coaching to direct reports, escalating issues to leadership appropriately.
• Clearly communicate, implement, audit, and educate staff on new processes in the department.
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to ensure proper scheduling of breast imaging procedures and a smooth patient flow, handling same-day add-ons and other patient-related matters.
• Round on patients to ensure wait times are within normal timeframes.
• Anticipate patient concerns and provide reassurance through patient education.
• Perform service recovery to address patient complaints and concerns.
• Collaborate with departmental leaders on patient satisfaction initiatives.
• Audit positioning and productivity of staff to sustain a high quality of imaging.
• Perform all breast imaging procedures, including advanced positioning techniques.
• Responsible for radiation protection and immobilization of patients per safety standards.
• Assist physicians during Interventional Breast Biopsy procedures.
• Perform quality control checks of imaging equipment per departmental policies and procedures.
• Adhere to and maintain DOH, JCAHO, MQSA, and ACR standards as outlined by these governing bodies.
• Assist with ACR equipment accreditation submissions.
• Perform all needed QC and maintain QC logs for all equipment.
• Ensure all downtime procedures are followed concerning computer systems.
• Demonstrate good communication skills and display an empathetic, enthusiastic, and positive attitude.
• Maintain a professional image and always follow hospital and departmental dress code.
• Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department.
• Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
• NYS DOH license is required, ARRT(R)(M). Previous lead or supervisory experience is required.
• Advanced ARRT Certification Required; CT, MRI, ARDMS, or NMTCB.
• Uphold continuing education requirements as per standards set forth by governing bodies (24 ECE credits over a two-year period).
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.
• Radiation dose pledge completed for both Image Wisely/Image Gently through the American College of Radiology (ACR), either during the orientation period or before the end of the probationary period.
• Demonstration of strong leadership qualities and exceptional interpersonal skills required.

Salary: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
