THE ROLE
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Train, tune, deploy, and maintain production models and algorithms to analyze millions of forum discussions using a variety of modeling techniques
- Work with large-scale, high-volume heterogeneous data using distributed systems
- Design, build, and deploy batch and streaming data pipeline
- Design and maintain robust data models, data storage, retrieval, caching, and optimization techniques
- Transform requirements into engineering designs and eventually scalable solutions
- Work and communicate asynchronously with distributed teams
- Other related responsibilities and ad hoc projects as negotiated and needed to meet the ongoing needs of the company
ABOUT YOU
- At least five years of experience as a Machine Learning, data, and/or backend software engineer developing, deploying, and maintaining production models and data pipelines
- Proficiency in Python and either Java or Scala
- Experience with cloud ML and ML ops tools and frameworks
- Practical understanding of mathematical theories behind modern Machine Learning, including linear algebra and statistics
- Comfortable writing efficient and complex relational database queries
- Experience developing batch and streaming production pipelines and deploying in production environments
- Experience with distributed data processing frameworks, message brokers, and event streaming platforms (e.g. Apache Beam, Spark, PubSub, Kafka)
- Willingness flex between pure Machine Learning solutions and deterministic algorithms, depending on the problem, the data, and the phase of the project
- Desire to work in a startup-like setting that is experimental and collaborative; comfort navigating uncertainty
- Ability to travel once every three months to Toronto, Canada, or Mountain View, California for team meetings and company offsite
