Role Summary 

The Senior Legal Specialist supports the Legal Services team and Vice President, Head of Legal Services, with a myriad of day-to-day operations. This role requires an individual who excels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You are organized and able to manage competing priorities, while maintaining excellent results and attention to detail. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and are not afraid to take on challenging requests. Essential Job Functions:

The Senior Legal Specialist's duties include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Maintaining proper business licenses for new and existing studios, including entity compliance management, research into local, city, state, and jurisdictional ordinances, fulfilling various legal permitting requests, providing proof of insurance, tracking and reporting, and responding to inspections.
  • Owning and managing legal compliance processes related to company data privacy program, including handling initial verifications, responding to privacy escalation requests through company privacy portal, third-party communications, process management, data mapping, partnering with outside counsel, working cross-functionally, and ongoing monitoring to maintain regulatory compliance and efficiencies.  
  • Managing insurance processes, including annual insurance renewals, assessing optimum coverage, procuring certificates of insurance for company events and licensing, overseeing submission of insurance claims to carrier, working with insurance adjusters, cross-functional partners, and outside counsel as needed, claim investigation coordination, collecting and assembling documentation, photos, work orders, and tracking open claims, status, and reimbursement. May also include collaborating with law enforcement regarding theft-related security and video footage and responding to student inquiries.  
  • Assisting with real estate, compliance, litigation, , and administrative matters, including drafting legal holds, landlord communications, maintaining current music licensing, adding and removing new studios, compiling documents in response to subpoenas, tracking arbitration opt-outs, drafting and tracking various agreements, releases, and waivers, maintaining the legal drive, records, and form library, tracking and following up on various action items to ensure schedules and due dates are met, and acting as contact person and gatekeeper for new legal issues and inquiries. 
  • Managing legal billing matters including accruals and adherence to billing guidelines. 
  • Creating, modifying, and formatting documents including estoppel and subordination, non-disturbance and attornment agreement requests letters, non-disclosure agreements, event agreements, memos, presentations (Power Point), spreadsheets (Excel), and other related documents. 
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date toolkits, and Legal Services process and procedures documentation. 
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including marketing, operations, real estate, business development, facilities, sales, IT, and finance.  

Education Skills and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • 3+ years in a law firm or in-house legal department preferred 
  • Familiarity with legal terms and processes 
  • Organizational skills with an ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, prioritize, and work independently with high attention to detail 
  • Excellent written and verbal skills 
  • Self-initiative that drives a desire for impact and achievement 
  • Excellent judgment and demonstrated discretion handling confidential information  
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, and discretion

Compensation 

  • Salary Range: $55,000-65,000 annually based on experience 
  • Bonus potential up to 10%
