What you will do:

The Senior Learning Designer / Program Manager– BEST Frontline Manager BSNA is a critical support at Johnson Controls in pursuit of its mission, leading the successful design, deployment and program management of training solutions for our field managers.

Your challenge will be to deploy and manage learning solutions that support our BSNA frontline leaders. You will lead the execution of successful training solutions aligned with the specific needs of the business. Working closely with key global stakeholders, you will deliver training, collaborate on development, evaluate training effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement for upskilling our field leaders. You will need to continuously iterate on your design to meet the needs of our business, working closely with executives and experts in our field businesses to align training to company strategy. You will own or collaborate on the onboarding, upskilling and leadership development for our managers in all JCI branches.

  • Facilitate and support leadership programming for Johnson Control frontline technical managers, helping them best prepare for working and leading in the field.

  • Immerse yourself in the end-to-end process of identifying a business need, partnering with sponsors to design training and change solutions, and ensuring effective learning gets delivered to audiences and maintained over time.

  • Help frontline leaders to build new skills, improve their ways of working and strengthen their performance.

  • Deploy monthly learning events tied to business strategy initiatives to support manager upskilling and in role development.

  • Investigate new opportunities and develop effective training that is impactful and inventive.

  • Align your ingenuity and innovative ideas with the global strategic plan of the business.

  • Learn on a day to day basis about how Johnson Controls products and technology support our customers’ business objectives and are propelling the industry forward.

How you will do it:

Sr LXD - Responsibilities

  • Use strong project management skills in developing outcomes that positively impact the business.

  • Leverage innovative learning technologies and platforms to deploy learning, including the Johnson Controls Learning Hub (our LXP), LMS (Learning Management System), and Acadia.

  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and issues in learning design, training, and technical learning.

  • Partner with global leadership development partners to deliver JCI DRIVE Leadership content to BSNA managers and high potential employees.

  • Partner with other program managers to create High Potential employee programs, and prepare “next up” managers to seamlessly step into their roles.

  • Partner with other program managers to update and refine content based on feedback, evaluation results, new products or process launches, and business or strategy changes.

  • Design or co-design and facilitate monthly learning sessions based on business need, focus, or strategy.

Facilitator – Responsibilities

  • Facilitate leadership programs for managers in BSNA. Partner with our fantastic leadership colleagues to ensure all program criteria are adhered to, audiences are accurate and appropriate, and content is up to date.

  • Facilitate onboarding sessions for all new North American manager new hires on topics ranging from our financials and leadership and management practices.

  • Lead manager sessions as part of a regular cadence, or in monthly “booster” session format.

  • Lead onboarding welcomes, intro programs, and office hours.

  • Train new hire and legacy managers on job related and role clarity activities.

  • Share training content, session information, and student data with BSNA leaders.

Program Manager –Responsibilities

  • Collaborate to design and deliver programs that drive field effectiveness and provide upskilling opportunities for our employees.

  • Differentiate the design of learning opportunities so new-to-career, new-to-role, or new-to-JCI employees can access information at various entry points.

  • Own end to end new hire, legacy or need based training from design to deployment (we will help with development).

  • Enroll, track / monitor, and report on learner attendance and progression.

  • Use data to drive your instruction, and to evaluate effectiveness of training solutions.

  • Use learner data to modify existing programs and redesign based on participant feedback.

  • Hold learner interviews, focus groups, needs analyses and pilots to identify, address and redesign learning events.

  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders; collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize work.

  • Use your exceptional project management skills to track and drive learning solutions tied to business needs.

  • Own the end-to-end learning strategy to include needs analysis, iterative design and development cycles, deployment, measurement, and maintenance of your solutions.

  • Support the deployment of regional Project Management, Leadership and technical training.

What we look for:

  • Strategic- You can tie learning to company strategy, be flexible to changes in content and approach, and rapidly make connections between business initiatives and learning content within your program.

  • Technical- JCI’s portfolio of products is complex, so we need someone who is quick to grasp how building environments are created and business lines organized. Don’t worry, we’ll help you with that! Can quickly learn different platforms like Power BI, Acadia, Learning Experience Platform, and various learning management systems.

  • Educated – Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning or related discipline. A Master’s degree in related field is preferred.

  • Innovative – Thinks outside the box, is creative and forward thinking; constantly looking forward at new technologies or ideas.

  • Flexible – Very comfortable with grey areas; can adapt and change to meet business needs. Must be willing to act amid ambiguity.

  • Detailed – Realizes the importance of details in leading to impactful outcomes.

  • Collaborative – Builds true partnerships with other learning designers, program managers, and business partners.

  • Ambitious – Willing to assume authority, take risks, and set clear goals for career development.

  • Professional – Has personal ethics, does quality work and has a positive attitude.

  • Articulate – Your writing and communication skills must be strong.

  • Experience – 6+ years of designing and developing learning solutions preferred, Change Management experience, business of field operations experience a plus. Strong facilitation skills required.

This position reports directly into the Learning and Development organization and leads learning initiatives supporting the JCI business.
