Job Description Summary

The Senior Lean Leader reports to the GE Lafayette Plant Leader and works in a self-directed teaming structure. The Lean Leader will be responsible for the Lean strategy across the site. As the Lean Leader, you will focus on partnering with the teams to advance our Lean culture and maximize results by ensuring the principles of Lean are applied. This individual should have deep technical expertise within Lean Manufacturing and have a comprehensive knowledge of underlying principles, approaches, and methodology.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams empowered to execute the Continuous Improvement strategy. 
  • Deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in process capability and business processes to reduce waste and attain world-class levels of quality.
  • Facilitate, train, and coach team members in the use of Lean tools.
  • Partner with operating leaders and teams to uncover and assess continuous improvement opportunities for GE and its suppliers.
  • Constantly seek, share, and implement best practices.
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma tools to improve process capability and eliminate defects.
  • Facilitate cross-functional project teams.
  • Communicate teams’ progress to Champions, Business Leaders, and key stakeholders.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing / quality improvement or production support position with at least 2 years hands-on experience in Lean deployment and driving changes in production shop floor through strategic projects.

Desired Characteristics and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with production teams to implement Lean methodologies, Continuous Improvement tools, and practices including daily management, visual controls, standard work, and policy deployment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification
  • Experience in project management and digital metrics
  • Proficient at clearly defining, analyzing, and resolving problems and process weaknesses and applying a formal root cause corrective action methodology.
  • Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn
  • Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively
  • Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed
  • Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative
