Job Description
We are looking for a qualified IT Professional who will travel to customer locations for on-site support and work from our company office. We provide specific software to its customers, supports the hardware and network infrastructure of its customers, and hosts websites for its customers on AWS. The goal is for the position to work directly with the existing head of IT and be their eventual replacement reporting to the CEO.
You'd be responsible for all tiers of IT support, ranging from taking and responding to trouble tickets and help desk phone calls, performing systems administration and network engineering tasks, to advanced troubleshooting, complex network design, server builds, and recovery. This position operates in a team environment and currently has no direct-reports.
Responsibilities
- Implement merge replication, configure distribution, create publications, and manage subscriptions with Microsoft SQL
- Create SQL databases, perform basic database queries, and have the knowledge and ability to edit the query results
- Manage network workgroup level security and management for file sharing and SQL authentication
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy (both local and domain level), windows authentication for file sharing and SQL authentication
- Manage local domain creation, implementation, maintenance and administration
- Manage and track hosted website for all customers in AWS
- Switch and firewall management and configuration
- Monitor security certificates and ensure the organization’s compliance with requirements
- Troubleshoot and provide technical support to company staff
- Install necessary updates to company software and hardware
- Manage IT department budget, and allocate cost for necessary upgrades and updates
- Evaluate, modify, and create information systems policies and procedures
- Diagram networks, systems, and processes; log issues and resolutions; create workflows and other documentation
- Collaborate with other organizations, and manage vendor work scopes and relationships
- Contribute to the collective knowledge base of the support team by sharing lessons-learned
- Maintain continued awareness of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies
Technical Qualifications and Skills
- 5+ years experience working within AWS Cloud Environment and experience with the following: EC2 creation, route 53, network load balancer, AWS IAM policy, AWS managed active directory, AWS RDS, AWS Snapshot, AWS S3, AWS tagging, and AWS VPC
- 5+ years experience with switch and firewall management and configuration
- 5+ years experience with RAID Technology, and Windows VB Scripts (creation, editing, logon and logoff scripts)
- Advanced skills and experience with Windows products and features: Windows Server, and Windows Server Administrative Tools
Other Required Skills
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills with ability to adjust and respond professionally to changing priorities and ad hoc issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to interact with all levels of management, colleagues, teammates, and customers
- Excellent problem solving skills and strong attention to detail
- Project management experience is a plus
- Experience managing large enterprise and small networks
Additional requirements and information
- Physical Requirements - On occasion, you will need to assist in or coordinate moving a printer or scanner
- Travel Requirements - You can expect to travel 25-50 days/year but overnight travel varies on business/customer needs
- Work Schedule – Monday thru Friday 8AM - 5PM. You must be willing to be on call during weekends and holidays (on occasion, this can be 1-2 hours per instance)
