Overview:

The Senior Internal Auditor is responsible for planning and conducting financial and operational control audits, audits to test internal controls, accounting processes and compliance with established policies and procedures, and operational audits. The auditor prepares reports to communicate audit results, share best practices, and propose recommendations to strengthen internal controls and improve processes.  While this position is based in Des Moines, Iowa there will be regular travel to various locations within Kemin's worldwide markets including Belgium, Italy, Singapore, China, India, South Africa and Brazil. Once you've established yourself in the position, opportunities for relocation to our European or Asian regions may be available.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide auditing functions for Kemin's worldwide markets.
  • Design and perform computer-assisted audit techniques.
  • Perform financial and operational audits to assess compliance, effectiveness, and efficiency of Corporate and Business Unit processes, policies and procedures and the adequacy of internal controls.
  • Evaluate the operating effectiveness of internal controls related to financial reporting and disclosure controls.
  • Prepare reports and formulate recommendations designed to improve controls and/or methods of operation.
  • Interface with various levels of management on audit findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans.
  • Support Kemin’s external auditors and provide information and materials upon request.
  • Develop formal risk-based audit programs focused on key risks and related controls for a given audit area or activity.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent 
  • 5+ years of audit experience, with minimum 3 years experience in public accounting
  • CPA, CIA, or CFE or working toward certification.
  • Must be fluent in English, multilingual a plus
  • Strong computer skills, including databases, experience auditing computer network security controls a plus.
  • Ability to detect odor, ability to investigate if odor is “normal” or requires further review.
  • Ability to analyze without a clear description and perform review/ analysis of novel problems as needed.
  • Information gathering- determine best source or multiple sources with comparison of dates.
  • Ability to change review/analysis during process as information or data requires.
  • Able to travel internationally on an extensive basis.
  • Able to work independently and in teams as the project needs dictate.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and analytical skills with ability to identify and assess risk and exposures across a wide variety of business processes.
  • Able to manage multiple concurrent audits/projects.
  • Able to influence and negotiate with others.
  • Able to develop risk-based audit programs focused on critical risk and control considerations.
  • High integrity with the ability to work with highly confidential information.
