We Innovate to shape the future of CRE, so in this role you will:

  • The Senior Associate - Internal Audit is responsible for assisting with the external audits of the company and evaluating the design and effectiveness of internal control environment to mitigate identified risks
  • Work with business units to identify, capture, and report the risk and control environment for the company.
  • Perform complex operational compliance audits.
  • Perform quarterly HUD Quality Control Plan.
  • Liaise with external parties and facilitate audit requests from rating agencies, external auditors, Internal Auditors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Perform follow-up on open audit/validation items to ensure findings satisfactorily resolved.
  • Collect, aggregate and report audit responses, as needed.
  • Develop and test audits of business functions and report findings to management to determine level of compliance with servicing agreements, agency guidelines, or company policies.
  • Create and report compliance certificates for Company with respect to Reg AB, USAP, and compliance with pooling and servicing agreements. Compliance packages also include delivery statements, insurance certificates.
  • Manage project assignments and timelines to ensure the timely and effective completion of assigned projects.
  • Interact with all levels of management throughout Berkadia.
  • Assume lead role to appropriately plan audits to identify opportunities to improve and enhance Berkadia's governance, controls and risk environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Adhere to Berkadia's policies and exhibit proficiency and understanding of Berkadia's Values and position-specific skills.
  • CPA or CISA or advanced audit certification is encouraged, or the employee should be willing to work towards gaining such certifications.
  • Must have in-depth understanding of Mortgage Servicing, QA/QC, and Risk Management experience.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Must have excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects with supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to be discrete and maintain confidential information.
