In this Senior Instructional Designer, you will orchestrate across many stakeholders for core deliverables to build world-class learning and development
The candidate will have an understanding of adult learning, executive education, and lifelong learning, experience with blended learning and creating online learning, and a perspective on programs and tools to leverage for the most impact. They will be an experienced in Instructional Design with technical and content creation skills and can bring the outside in, incorporating key learning trends and fundamental educational theory into meaningful programming for CELA’s employees. A candidate must be a team player, strategic-thinking self-starter, able to thrive in a dynamic, “always-on” environment, adaptable to jumping in to solve issues and comfortable operating in ambiguous business situations. They must be able to bring change, new ideas, and best practices to CELA’s training, learning, and talent efforts, driving intellectual thinking and creating significant business impact.
Responsibilities
- Conducts design research to empathize with learners, understand their context within the broader system, and validate their learning needs.
- Defines the problem statement and determines the learning outcomes, aligning learner needs to business goals. Collaborate on developing assessment instruments.
- Takes a human-centered, iterative design approach to develop learning experiences that are discoverable, relevant, and engaging.
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances knowledge transfer. Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process.
- Leverages 1st party and 3rd party technologies to create coherent, end-to-end learning experiences that may use a variety of delivery methods including facilitated sessions, digital experiences, or other blended learning modalities, that support measurable shifts in knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Work with organization leaders and SMEs to assist in developing content. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors, as needed, to develop content.
- Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product.
- Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
- Maintain project documentation and manage ongoing progress
- Keep instructional content up to date
- Research and implement new technologies into instruction.
- Ensures inclusive design principles are applied and all designs meet or exceed Microsoft's Accessibility Standards.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Vocational qualification or higher education degree (e.g., Bachelor's Degree) AND/OR 5+ years experience in Learning and Development
- OR Master's Degree or equivalent AND/OR 3+ years experience in Learning and Development
- OR equivalent experience.
Integrated Learning IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $142,200 - $213,200 per year.
