Job Title: Senior Industrial Designer
Department: Product & Engineering

FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation Base Range: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 Annually

Requirements
ABOUT THE ROLE:
As the Lead Product Industrial Designer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design of innovative products from concept to production. You will be the bridge between concept art and the physical world. By enhancing REP's Industrial Design Standards, the candidate will ensure cohesion across all product portfolios. They will also be responsible for inspiring limited-edition launches and keeping up with trends inside and outside the fitness industry.
There will be close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering and marketing, to ensure the seamless execution of design concepts. The primary focus will be on driving the industrial design aspects of our products using SOLIDWORKS 3D Modeling software. There will also be ownership for the complete product package including the instruction manuals, external packaging design, and product renderings used for marketing and REP's website. This workload will be completed by leading a team of Industrial Designers and Drafters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Lead Design Initiatives: take ownership of the end-to-end industrial design process, from ideation to final product, ensuring that design objectives and complete product packages are met within specified timelines and budget constraints.
  • SolidWorks Proficiency: utilize your expertise in SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models, renderings, and technical drawings that communicate design intent and facilitate seamless collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Team Collaboration: work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and manufacturing, to ensure alignment on design objectives and successful product development.
  • Design Innovation: stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and design innovations to bring fresh and innovative ideas to the product development process.
  • Quality Assurance: implement and maintain design standards to ensure the highest level of quality in the final product, with a keen eye for detail and precision.
  • Documentation: create comprehensive design documentation, including color, material and finish documents CMFs, marketing requirements documents MRDs, and Design standards, to guide the development of cohesive product development.
  • Product Listings: use Solidworks Visualize to setup product configurations
  • Packaging Artwork & Instruction Manuals: Oversee the creation and approve all product packaging artwork and instruction manuals to give a positive first impression.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead: Assigns, trains, schedules or oversees work of others.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field
  • At least 7 years of proven experience as an Industrial Designer with a standout portfolio showcasing impactful and innovative product designs. Experience in consumer products is highly preferred
  • At least 1 year managing or leading other team members
  • Experience using 3D CAD Modeling and Rendering Software (SolidWorks is a plus)
  • Experience in Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience making Product Instructional Manuals and Packaging Artwork
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in leading design teams
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities
  • Experience with ergonomics and the art and science of design thinking
  • A deep understanding of industry trends
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing. Sheet Metal and plastic parts are a plus
