SalaryWCTS, an SDVOSB, is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), who will be supporting their Office of Information and Technology (OIT). The Senior Graphic Designer will be focused on the goal of the OIT – which is integrating a Vision for Digital Transformation, which guides everything the organization does in support of the VA’s priorities and the goal to become the best IT organization in government for the Veterans they serve.
The Senior Graphic Designer will provide direct communication support to the Assistant Secretary for IT and Chief Information Officer, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, and the OIT Chief of Staff. The Office of Communication (OC) is responsible for OIT’s communication strategy and strategic communication engagement with; VA and OIT employees, VA business partners, oversight bodies, Veterans, and; end users of VA digital offerings, IT industry partners, and media. OC oversees the delivery of all strategic messaging products and services.
OIT seeks sophisticated, creative, strategic communication expertise that is familiar with complex IT system development and delivery for wide-ranging communication. This communication is far-reaching on VA public-facing platforms. OIT seeks expertise in strategic communication specialties. Knowledge areas of the ideal candidate include; strategic communication content creation, marketing and public relations, Congressional communication, and graphic design/accessibility of digital communication.
This contract is contingent upon award.
If awarded, the beginning of employment will be April 30, 2024.
This is a 3-year possible contract award (2024-2026).
Salary: 105-115k/year
Travel: up to 25%, mostly local
Hours: within 8-5, business hours; full-time work
Location: Work will be split between Washington, DC; Fredericksburg, VA; and remote.
Citizenship: Ability to obtain an NACI clearance with written inquiries; US Citizen
Job Description
Develop and design highly polished graphics to enhance OIT’s reputation. The ideal candidate understands PR and public-facing needs of government organizations.
Ability to produce up to 75 deliverables a month. This may include highly technical and complex graphics and more subtle and simplified needs. Up to 5 of these will be guaranteed to include graphics work on OIT internal publications.
Specific graphic skills are in designing and preparing; web/presentation graphics, fact sheets, posters/flyers, branding templates, infographics, social media and blog visuals, and logos/icons. This list is stated to be exhaustive.
Technical knowledge of relevant industry design software, to develop and render high resolution graphics and images in line with messaging for outreach needs.
Provide on-site, rapid response support for OIT leadership, as needed.
Essential Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS/BFA/BBA)
Seven (7) years of graphic design/related experience
Direct experience in graphic design and creating and remediating fully accessible digital communication products for senior executive clients.
Expertise in layout and web user interface design services that create/maintain a consistent, cohesive look.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to assist other creative team members with design and completion of graphics.
Provide expertise in full accessibility of digital communication products (not just ADA Section 508 compliance).
The ability to be on-call for the director in times of need.
Provide surge support capability for emergent communication needs during times of unscheduled high operational tempo.
Adobe design skills and other relevant industry technologies.

Known communication skills through a portfolio of digital and print media.
Past government contracting work.

Master’s or graduate degrees/certificates in relevant fields.
