Title: Senior Graphic Designer

Job Description:

The Senior Graphic Designer is a creative professional who produces and oversees digital and print creative solutions to address our clients’ marketing needs. To be successful in this role, you should have an in-depth knowledge of graphic design, styles and layout techniques, and be able to provide creative, out-of-the-box solutions for clients that measurably improve their bottom line. You should also have experience executing marketing projects from conception to production, including websites, brochures and product packaging.

You will work closely with the Design Manager and Associate Creative Director of Brand Identity. The Senior Graphic Designer is responsible for bringing design solutions to life which adhere to marketing strategies and business goals. They must be comfortable making decisions and mentoring designers that are producing the graphics and should be able to see graphics development from a holistic perspective. This position will ensure the design team promotes our clients’ brands through delivering high quality pieces on tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Design Manager
  • Branded Asset Creation & Innovation
  • Conceptualize and create branded assets including logos, graphics, illustrations, and other visual elements based on creative brief requirements
  • Generate innovative ideas and design concepts that align with client briefs and project objectives
  • Stay updated on design trends, techniques, and tools to bring fresh ideas and innovation to projects
  • Basic to intermediate photo manipulation skills
  • Work directly with the Design Manager and Associate Creative Director of Brand Identity to develop and refine client branding (logos, colors, typography, misc. branding elements, etc.)
  • Create/edit internal and external brand guidelines for designers and clients to reference
  • Design evergreen brand campaign graphics for new clients
  • Lead the development of brand guidelines and continuing to develop/refine the process of brand exploration with clients (collecting design/messaging needs; everything to encompass a brand)
  • Brand Consistency & Expert-Level Artistic Execution
  • Execute designs at an expert level, maintaining high standards of artistic quality and precision
  • Ensure brand consistency across all design assets and materials
  • Uphold brand guidelines and standards while infusing creativity and originality into designs
  • Understand the objectives, target audience, and key messages outlined in the briefs quickly and offer valuable insight
  • Raise the bar continually for creating effective advertising assets that connect with a desired audience and drive action
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload and short turnaround times
  • Independently and reliably meet and manage their project deadlines
  • Leading Client-facing Comms & Presentations (Internal & External)
  • Interpret client briefs and translate them into visually compelling design solutions
  • Present design concepts, rationale, and project progress to clients in a clear and persuasive manner when necessary
  • Communicate effectively with Account Managers surrounding design best practices and asset recommendations based on the client’s brand guideline and business objectives
  • Present approved client branding to the design team to ensure they have a deep understanding of the client’s creative direction
  • Demonstrate business acumen to assume an expert role by guiding clients through design and branding solutions in presence, presentation structure, & communication skills
  • Expert-Level Artistic Eye & Quality Control
  • Apply an expert-level artistic eye to all assets in the design department and enhance the visual appeal of designs
  • Have a keen eye for details and an advanced understanding of design principles
  • Conduct rigorous quality control checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail before designs reach the Design Manager’s desk
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to junior designers to maintain quality standards
  • Expertly use Adobe Creative Suite and other design software
  • Team Collaboration & Senior-Level Mentorship
  • Collaborate effectively with all other departments in the company to ensure that project standards are being exceeded and execution of the design was successful
  • Lead and mentor a team of Graphic Designers and production artists, providing guidance, feedback, and support for their professional development
  • Foster a collaborative and creative work environment, encouraging teamwork and innovation
  • Help train new designers as they start with the team and continue to mentor all designers on the team

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, art, or related discipline
  • Three or more years of experience (academic and professional) with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
  • Three or more years of experience in professional graphic design, preferably with a creative or marketing agency
  • An exceptional portfolio of work showing your ability to solve business problems using creative solutions in design
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Desire to continue building skill set with education and training
  • Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills
  • Photography experience and proficiency with photo-editing software preferred
  • Motion graphics experience preferred
