About the role
The Global Head of Clinical Development Equity is responsible for co-defining & implementing the Novartis strategy to ensure diverse patient representation across global clinical trials in line with regulatory requirements and to ensure our trial populations reflect the patient populations we serve. She/he will create an effective framework for diversity in our clinical programs across Drug Development and in collaboration with BRC (Biomedical Research). The role also will champion the Novartis Diversity &Inclusion (D&I) commitment in clinical trials internally and externally, including representing Novartis on external forums and events on trial D&I. This role will work closely with the Head DEI R&D (global) and Global Head, D&I in Clinical Trials Drug Development.
What you'll be doing:
• Establish an effective framework for planning D&I in our clinical programs and trials, leveraging existing team structures (GPTs, GCTs, CTTs).
• Engage early in the development lifecycle to advise teams on D&I strategies in their program & trial plans enabling recruitment of a more representative patient population
• Co-lead the Clinical Trial Diversity team. Build trust with society by embedding D&I within our Development trial strategy and increase participation of under-represented populations in Novartis clinical trials.
• Initiate and lead private-public sector partnership on Clinical Trial Diversity
• Develop and provide holistic training for internal associates as well as sites that tackle bias and systemic issues which are barriers to diversity in clinical trials.
• Lead and establish strategic D&I partnerships with patient groups, medical institutions and community organizations to advance our D&I commitments. Represent Novartis on D&I-related consortia to refine our D&I execution models.
• Monitor the external D&I landscape with a focus on Clinical Development. Identifies best practices, and understand current performance, gaps, and areas of opportunity.
• Partners with BRC, GMA, and Commercial, to share information on D&I operation challenges and to enhance understanding of the current and future competitive landscape and patients’ journey.
Assess the effectiveness and impact of D&I strategies on trial execution, timelines, budget and submission dossier and commercial outcomes.
Increase the visibility of Clinical Trial Diversity activities across Novartis, and ensure buy-in from Development leaders to drive equity in representation
