Michael Baker International is seeking a Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Technical Manager to join our Consulting and Technology Solutions team. Under general supervision, the candidate will be involved in the work effort with a team geospatial staff in their geographic region. The GIS Technical Manager will complete tasks with increasing levels of complexity as a team leader for multiple projects and may be responsible for supervising other team members and for supporting project managers on projects that may be for private, local government, or federal clients, depending on the region where the candidate resides.
The Technical Manager will join a collaborative team of experienced geospatial professionals who work with planners, public outreach specialists, pipeline, aviation, water resource and other civil engineers, and others dedicated to having a positive impact nationwide. The ideal candidate will be intentional, driven, intellectually curious, committed to excellence, and demonstrate a desire to make a difference in the communities we serve. They will help grow the geospatial technology market locally to provide high quality geospatial consulting services to public and private sector clients. The candidate must have a team-based mindset and excellent communication skills.

Compensation: The approximate compensation range for this position is $103,000 to $120,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications and confer with colleagues to determine project technical approach
- Ability to recognize opportunities in the market for sales and business development opportunity, and make recommendations on how to capture these opportunities
- Extract data from GIS software; use varying analysis methods to arrive at results
- Provide data, analysis, and visualizations using GIS software to support project delivery and client engagement
- Gather, analyze, and integrate spatial data according to data quality specifications
- Provide technical guidance and communication between clients or other project stakeholders to ensure satisfactory customer service
- Implement and manage geospatial web applications designed to support data visualization and public outreach
- Provide technical guidance and training for less experienced staff
- Provide guidance by mentoring and motivating staff on issues such as performance feedback, management, and client relationships
- Stay knowledgeable of trends and current developments within the geospatial discipline
- Participate in internal and external professional development activities
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field.
- Full competency in ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro
- Competency with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise, including Experience Builder, ArcGIS Hub, and Dashboards
- Experience in ArcGIS mobile applications technology
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude
- Self-starter, ability to manage multiple tasks and to shift priorities
- Experience in client strategy, developing a scope of work, and preparing costs for levels of effort
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, ArcGIS Arcade) is strongly preferred
- Experience assisting with technical proposal writing is desired
- Experience with Asset Management is strongly preferred
- Experience with Esri Utility Network is highly desired
- Experience working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative consulting environment is desired
- GIS Professional (GISP) certification is beneficial, but not required
